Aye. The Tories have shown absolutely no sign of even pretending to have a serious stab and negotiating a proper trade deal. All they've got to do now is sit on their hands for a year to get their no-deal Brexit while blaming the EU for being intransigent.

Wrong.
When Boris was asked during the election whether he would allow the UK to crash out without a deal, he replied: "We have a deal".

...so the pretence is there.

Yet the interviewer (I think is was Sky) didn't follow up with:
"That was May's deal with the added cherry of throwing the DUP under the bus, a deal that you personally voted against"

Yup. The 'deal' is basically the divorce settlement plus some stuff about future cooperation and the outline of the basis for a possible trade arrangement. They prevaricated over that for three years so getting all that resolved in a year will be... you know... 'the easiest thing in human history.'

The fact Mr Trump did not think it necessary to inform Britain of his rash decision to assassinate Qassem Suleimani – Iran’s second most important leader after Ayatollah Khamenei – ought to tell Mr Johnson how little the White House thinks of him. Because the prime minister refused to return home early, his foreign secretary ate his own words in public. Dominic Raab was given a dressing down by his US counterpart after first siding with Europe over the almost certainly illegal killing of the thuggish Suleimani. It was disappointing to see Mr Raab replace his temperate response with self-serving US propaganda.

The navy are going to be pretty hard-pushed turning back asylum seekers in the channel while also sending a battle fleet to the gulf. It's all looking a bit 'Children Of Men' isn't it?
