Some politicians are proposing a general speed limit on German Autonahns. This is maybe the only thing that could cause a revolution over here.

Re: WTF is going in in France Svarty?
on the political scene, the mayor of Bordeaux of 22 years, one Alain Juppé, is going to be on our constitutional court... the man had spent 2 years doing a teaching gig in Canada in the 90s after being rendered ineligible to political office and civil service by a guilty judgment on corruption charges. The opposition is claiming the nomination ought to be rescinded as the guy has not the integrity to do the job... me, I just wonder what far right son of a bepoxed whore the Bordelese will elect for their next mayor.

I wonder if the sharp divide between left and right has anything to do with the small fuel protest which has been going on in France for almost a month now...?

Seriously, I see no need for cars more powerful than it takes to cruise comfortably at speeds between 100 and 120km/h with four passengers on board. There are exceptions. Laklak, for instance will feel the need occasionally to strap a five ton boat on to a triaxle trailer and take it for a joyride.

You wont find me disagreeing with you. I never could understand the need for so called "super cars".
Drive here at 200kph and you have lost your licence and anything above is bye bye car. It is sold at public auction.

Re: WTF is going in in France Svarty?
The fastest I drive is at 130 km/h on some stretches of road in the Northern Territory, where it is legal. The distances up there are huge, so it makes sense, even though I see a definite jump in fuel consumption compared to my normal 110 km/h. In my Subaru Forester, 130 is definitely the upper limit for a variety of reasons, including my ageing reflexes...

I limit myself to the posted limit, but have over 300 horses pulling my truck.
Good thing I don't have to live in France with it.

Re: WTF is going in in France Svarty?
Speeding on dirt tracks is fun. Someone let me drive his car on our local circuit. The car cost him $3000 to put together. It has no glass, but the driver's half of where the windscreen normally goes is covered with mesh, there's a sturdy roll cage and a fire extinguisher. The start-finish straight is only 380 metres long, but at the point you need to slow down for a left hand turn you're sitting on 160 or 170 km/h. The turn at the end goes on for about 280°. four-wheel drifting while basically steering via the loud-pedal is a hoot.
The bloke wants to sell the car. I could afford to buy it, but I can't afford to run it. Tyres, shock absorbers, springs, brake pads, etc don't last long on these things. Breakdowns and shunts add to the cost at random intervals. So, sadly I had to decline.

I've seen it done, whilst towing a caravan. Looked fun. Best use of a caravan....Hermit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 9:25 pmSpeeding on dirt tracks is fun. actually, I'm getting really annoyed with them, every saturday, any number of metro stations, especially in the Champs Elysées area get closed down by police orders, which make me liable to not be able to go to certain places I might want to ... and they really suck at weeding out the violent yob element.

Apparently the French army have permission to open fire on protesters now.
