There's plenty of evidence that things like hand-washing and face masks reduce the risk of viral transmission. That's why nurses wash their hands between patients and surgeons wear masks.

Untrue, Brian. It's about control. Hospital administrators are secret Marxists, hell bent on subjugating their underlings.

Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot.

But srsly. Though the effectiveness of such measures are reduced in a non-clinical environment every little helps eh?

Absolutely. The idea that keeping more distance from other people doesn't reduce transmission rates is ridiculous.

Where is the evidence? It depends who you ask.

I guess it does depend on who you ask. Medics say that hand-washing is an important part of infection control, and people like you say that it isn't, so I suppose the answer must be somewhere in the middle. :tea:

We had a tv show about it. The whole bloody mess is just who you ask. In the programme there was so many questions about social distancing and nobody of the experts could give an answer. It is a real farce.

Then what about adopting the cautionary principle and just maintain a bit more distance when you meet people socially or go to the shops? I think the truth is that you just don't want to have to keep washing your hands, wear a face mask, or maintain social distancing - you just want it all to go away and get back to how things were before the pandemic.

Are you still holding onto the two metre rule? How about public transport? France says one metre is sufficient.

Some Republicans must have some smarts, how else did they get all that money?

But conservatives are idiots:

According to a study at Brock University in Ontario, USA, children who do poorly in intelligence tests are more likely to become prejudiced and conservative.

According to psychologist Gordon Hodson, who led the study, this is a nasty twist. Adults with lower intelligence tend to support socially conservative ideologies. These ideologies, in turn, emphasize hierarchy and anti-change, which increase prejudices.

Conservative ideologies are attracted by the structure and order they provide, which make a complex world easier to understand.
