Arizona judge suspends Republican vote 'audit' being conducted by Cyber Ninjas, a Florida company led by a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist.

Friday's order requires the company to hand over any documents detailing their internal procedures for the audit, "which should have been made immediately available to the public if this were a transparent or credible process," Raquel Terán, chair of the Arizona Democratic Party, said in a statement.

A reporter from the Arizona Republic, Jen Fifeld, who attended the audit on Friday raised concerns that those examining the ballots could be in a position to alter them, noting that counting tables had blue pens on them. You are "supposed to only have red ink," she noted, because the machines that count ballots will accept black or blue ink as a legitimate vote.

We look at a slew of anti-protest laws pending in Republican-led states, and some that have already passed, such as in Florida, where Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a controversial measure known as the “anti-riot bill” that is widely viewed as a response to the Black Lives Matter movement and calls to “defund the police.” Under the new law, a public gathering of three or more people can be classified as a “riot,” and anyone who “willingly” participates in such a gathering can be charged with a third-degree felony. Many of the anti-protest bills pending in other states have the exact same language as the Florida plan. “These are really extreme laws,” says Nick Robinson, a senior legal adviser with the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law, which has tracked 81 anti-protest bills introduced in 34 states so far this year. They “expand the definition of rioting” in order “to target protesters,” Robinson tells Democracy Now!

Existing laws against violence and damage to property are sufficient for situations when protestors cross a fairly clear line, obviously. Such "anti-riot" measures, which can be used against totally peaceful demonstrations are deeply fascist in nature.
