This is incoherent as
a. His behavior in the WH is unprecedented
b. He was voted as needed change in the WH.

So either he is different or he isn’t. Which is it
He teargassed fewer invading illegals than did his predecessor, so he is less of an asshole (but still an asshole)

His predecessor was much better at seeming nice on TV, I'll say that for him.

Trump is different because of subtle communication things, like being willing to say the phrase 'Islamic terrorist', which I think his predecessor was unable to utter.

The actions of both are terrible (they are assholes) but one of them is more charming and well-spoken.

Every one of them can be made to look beastly. Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Drama-Queen who makes an embarrassing spectacle by dressing up in whatever costume is popular in the region he is visiting, still legalized weed.

I was convinced he would be unable (due to international pressure etc.)

Not going to start liking him, not going to vote for his crap, but I can admit he did well there.

When people can't admit anything Trump did is 'good', I like to think they are running on autopilot, not really thinking it through.

Everyone wanted the wall, until Trump started wanting it. Now everyone doesn't want it. If he provided a cure for cancer, there would be outrage because of all of the out-of-work oncologists, many of whom are people of colour.
Wibble
I was just pointing out that I can see good or bad in a politician, call it wibble if you like.

You better not let anything cause you to 'wibble'.

Shun wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what the stars foretell, avoid opinion, care not what your fellow man thinks, and for heavens sake, don't let facts cause you to 'wibble' either.

DITCH MITCH

https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/p ... oo5saTBd3s

McConnell just told reporters, "I'm going to be running for re-election in 2020. I don't like starting late."

Mitch has sided with the NRA. Looted Medicare and Social Security to give yet another tax cut to the rich. Tried to gut our health care. And don't even get us started on Merrick Garland.

That's why we created Ditch Mitch, a brand new group solely dedicated to defeating McConnell. We've set a goal of raising another $10,000 to fund our efforts, but we are still $2,044 short. If you're ready to Ditch Mitch, then chip in whatever you can now. Every dollar will go directly to ensure Mitch McConnell never wins an election ever again.

Hometown paper to McConnell: ‘Now would be a good time to choose to lead’
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has the power to end the Trump shutdown. He’s just refuses to use it. Now even his hometown paper is calling him out for his lack of leadership on the issue.

In response to McConnell’s refusal to allow a vote to reopen the government, the Lexington Herald-Leader Editorial Board wrote, “we have one word: Override.”

The GOP-led Senate passed a spending bill in December with the unanimous consent of every single senator. Even if Trump does not like the funding levels, there seems to be enough support to override a potential veto and reopen the government.

But McConnell is refusing to exercise the powers granted to Congress in the constitution for the good of the country.

“The nation is being held hostage by Trump and his dwindling base of wall-obsessed extremists,” the editorial board of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch wrote. After recommending Congress override Trump’s veto, the editorial calls out Republican leaders, saying, “the job of Republicans on Capitol Hill is not to bow to this mercurial president’s whims.”

Unfortunately, McConnell is doing nothing by bowing to Trump’s whims. And Senate Democrats have noticed.

“The pressure will build on McConnell,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) told Politico. “Because right now he has contracted out the whole Senate Republican caucus to President Trump and the White House. They’re violating their constitutional duty.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has led the House to pass bills to reopen the government. And rather than let him slink into the shadows and shirk his responsibilities, several Senate Democrats are planning to grind Senate business to a halt unless McConnell allows a vote on legislation to end the Trump shutdown.

“The power to end the shutdown is in two people’s hands: Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). The American people know Republicans have the power to end the shutdown. Editorial boards are calling for real leadership among GOP leaders.

The US Republican House of Representatives leadership was shocked, shocked to learn that Representative Steve King spouts ignorant, prejudiced shit. So shaken were they by this dismaying revelation that they've decided to withhold committee assignments from him.

'Rep. Steve King stripped of House committee assignments over racist remarks'
Veteran Republican Rep. Steve King will be blocked from committee assignments for the next two years after lamenting that white supremacy and white nationalism have become offensive terms.

King, in his ninth term representing Iowa, will not be given committee assignments in the Congress that began this month, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Monday night. King served on the Agriculture, Small Business and Judiciary committees in the last Congress, and he chaired Judiciary’s subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice.

McCarthy, R-Calif., called King’s remarks “beneath the dignity of the Party of Lincoln and the United States of America.”

King’s comments “call into question whether he will treat all Americans equally, without regard for race and ethnicity,” McCarthy said, adding: “House Republicans are clear: We are all in this together, as fellow citizens equal before God and the law.”

The action by the GOP steering committee came after King and McCarthy met Monday to discuss the remarks on white supremacy, the latest in a years-long pattern of racially insensitive remarks by King.

King called McCarthy’s decision to remove him from committees “a political decision that ignores the truth.” He vowed to “continue to point out the truth and work with all the vigor that I have to represent 4th District Iowans for at least the next two years.”

Pointing out that a right-leaning news organisation is publishing fabricated stories about its friends' political rivals is not white knighting, neither is having a low opinion of that act.

Saw Trump lording over his McDonalds for some visiting dignitaries or something.

He was asked a simple, direct question - Wendys or McDonalds, and he suddenly got all politician-ish and said he liked them all.

Fucking pussy.

Then he went ON and ON while the food got cold.

He's a dick who should let someone else Emcee, if he isn't going to Trump it up. There should be many empty suits they could use.

Voting is bad!
https://splinternews.com/mitch-mcconnel ... 866966/amp

If there’s a more craven worm in D.C. than Mitch McConnell, it hasn’t crawled out of the sewer yet.

The Senate Majority Leader took some much-needed time off from doing nothing to end the ongoing government shutdown to write a take for the Washington Post on Thursday about why expanding voting rights is, in fact, bad.

So voter ID.

Don't most democrats worry that it will exclude those living in poverty?

Those folks I know who live in poverty (not 'empty pantry' poverty, but 'sleeping in the bank foyer' poverty) have endless trouble holding on to their ID.

Won't this affect them in a way you find unacceptable?
