Re: Texas School Shooting: 10 dead
I remember "duck and cover" drills well, I started 1st grade in 1961. Always wondered what that wooden desk was going to accomplish when a couple of megatons of Soviet thermonuclear hell detonated 1000 meters over my head. At the time we lived in Dover, Delaware, just down the road from Washington D.C. and home to the Dover Air Force Base, I think we were probably a primary target.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

During my youth I lived half a mile from where the Scorpion tank was made. I figured that if we got the three minute warning I had just enough time to get on my bike and cycle down the hill to the factory. Even at that age I realised it was better to be vaporised in an instant than to burn to death in the shallow graves the government were urging us to dig under the banner of 'Protect & Survive'.

That's my take on it. I don't worry now, if they decided to kick off The Big One I'd be disassociated atoms in a heartbeat, what with all the military presence just up the road in Tampa.

My dad joined the Civil Defence Corps in the 60's. A propaganda machine. The pamphlets were mad. Making shelters etc.
The tables were interesting about the damage caused by a nuclear bomb. Just proved you had bugger all chance.

The cold war was the biggest double bluff of all time. Plenty of people got rich that was all.

Houston police chief battles NRA in vicious Twitter feud amid school shooting fallout
https://abcnews.go.com/US/houston-polic ... d=55389272The hard-charging publicity arm of the National Rifle Association is engaged in an increasingly vicious Twitter battle with Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, as the firearms organization struggles to contain fallout from yet another mass shooting.
The result has been a multi-day social media battle between Houston's top law enforcement official and a prominent and outspoken NRA personality. On Tuesday, the dispute escalated to include threats of legal filings, references to Nazi Germany and suggestions of inappropriate surveillance.
After last Friday's mass shooting at Santa He High School in Texas, which left ten people dead and 13 wounded, Acevedo posted a desperate and emotional plea on his Facebook page to do something about gun violence.
“I know some have strong feelings about gun rights but I want you to know I’ve hit rock bottom and I am not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue," Acevedo wrote. "Please do not post anything about guns [not being] the problem and [that] there’s little we can do."
“This isn’t a time for prayers, and study and inaction," he continued. "It’s a time for prayers, action and the asking of God’s forgiveness for our inaction.”
He followed up the comments on CBS News' Face the Nation, calling on the public to vote out lawmakers "that are doing nothing" on gun violence.

So, to blame for America's gun violence:
video games
movies
rap music
rock music
not enough god/jesus
not enough armed teachers
not enough good guys with guns
not enough guns
immigration
liberals
mental illness
divorce
schools with too many doors
Ritalin
NOT to blame for America's gun violence:
guns
