This is Eppley airfield. They bussed 29 000 people to the rally, because only officials and police would park at the rally. The roads in and out of the airport are a two lane road and a four lane road going West.

where the above map says Iowa and Nebraska (by the lake, the left pair) there is a long term parking lot, street level

it holds maybe 1000 cars. The 29 000 had to park elsewhere.

Though there may have been air shows at the rally site in summer, it had never been used for a wintertime event.
