Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late
Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

Maybe you shouldn't make fun of her. Maybe she's 'trans-indigenous'.
(or is that 'trans-disingenuous'? )

Re: US Election 2020
On January 21, 2010, the Supreme Court overturned the provision of McCain-Feingold barring corporations and unions from paying for political ads made independently of candidate campaigns.[20] A dissenting opinion by Justice Stevens[21] was joined by Justice Ginsburg, Justice Breyer, and Justice Sotomayor.

He's not going to get far with that unifying talk. If we're going to have that discussion at all it's going to happen within the two camps. Unfortunately, I can see the right getting together better than us. I'm certainly feeling nervous about my previous confidence in changing demographics...

NATIONAL BESTSELLER
ONE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES 10 BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR
Who are the immensely wealthy right-wing ideologues shaping the fate of America today? From the bestselling author of The Dark Side, an electrifying work of investigative journalism that uncovers the agenda of this powerful group.
In her new preface, Jane Mayer discusses the results of the most recent election and Donald Trump's victory, and how, despite much discussion to the contrary, this was a huge victory for the billionaires who have been pouring money in the American political system.
Why is America living in an age of profound and widening economic inequality? Why have even modest attempts to address climate change been defeated again and again? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? In a riveting and indelible feat of reporting, Jane Mayer illuminates the history of an elite cadre of plutocrats—headed by the Kochs, the Scaifes, the Olins, and the Bradleys—who have bankrolled a systematic plan to fundamentally alter the American political system. Mayer traces a byzantine trail of billions of dollars spent by the network, revealing a staggering conglomeration of think tanks, academic institutions, media groups, courthouses, and government allies that have fallen under their sphere of influence. Drawing from hundreds of exclusive interviews, as well as extensive scrutiny of public records, private papers, and court proceedings, Mayer provides vivid portraits of the secretive figures behind the new American oligarchy and a searing look at the carefully concealed agendas steering the nation. Dark Money is an essential book for anyone who cares about the future of American democracy.

Review
Praise for Jane Mayer’s Dark Money
“Revelatory. . . . Persuasive, timely and necessary.” — The New York Times
“ Dark Money is more than just a work of political journalism—it’s a vital portrait of a nation that, as perhaps never before, is being shaped by a few very rich, very conservative businessmen.” — San Francisco Chronicle
“Absolutely necessary reading for anyone who wants to make sense of our politics.” — The New York Review of Books
“Deeply researched and studded with detail . . . Seems destined to rattle the Koch executive offices in Wichita as other investigations have not.” — Washington Post
“With such turmoil on the right wing of American politics, reading Dark Money is like reading the first chapter of what may be a great political page-turner.”
— Chicago Tribune
“Jane Mayer . . . is, quite simply, one of the very few utterly invaluable journalists this country has.” — Esquire
“Amazing. . . . The most important political book of the year.”
— St. Louis Post-Dispatch
“ Dark Money is almost too good for its own good.” — Los Angeles Review of Books

Feedback from Reddit on debate:
1 Posing a question that's a GOP talking point is pretty dishonest, it's far from objective, it's presenting a false narrative that the GOP has been pushing a long time ''your paying too much for insurance because the welfare queens are stealing from you, any change to the existing system will cost you EVEN MORE''
This paranoia in the right that any solution, any charge, any progress will topple all of life as we know it and will lose all our money is a big selling point for them. If you raise minimum wage ALL THE RENT AND GROCERIES WILL COST MORE,- in fact retail companies make absurd amounts of money, living wages would likely increase their profits because now their employees can afford cars and houses and entertainment, and that employee discount is going to really matter.
2 As Pete has been saying, it won’t matter what the policy of the dem candidate is, the right will screech socialism. I’m curious to see who can fight back the best. Bernie did good

Re: US Election 2020
You gotta admit they were right. ACA came in and anyone who wasn't either rich or poor-ass saw their premiums double or even triple damn near overnight. Stupid progam. Stupidly concieved, stupidly implemented, and stupidly executed. OK it might have worked given time, but our "system" insures no party will have sufficient time to actually do any fucking thing. But now anything they come up with is tainted by ACA.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

B-But...Obama promised <sniff>
Didn't Sanders just get roasted for refusing his staff the 15 buck minimum wage he is adovcating? Sucks when a hard-line socialist runs into reality lol
I should backpedal a bit - I think he is unique in that he allowed his employees to unionize at all...that takes 'money where your mouth is' guts.
