Crowds at the games does not mean crowds in pubs. London discovered that. Gold Coast is not cheap? People found London very expensive during the Olympics. You can give out a dollar once.

There may be a local effect here and there. A lot of Australians might choose to watch the games on tv, rather than go downtown.

Same thing happens when any major event is on. That's life. It might even be having an effect in the UK.

Just be selective with your truths. Tell one part and exclude the other, and hey presto, you have an article.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't reflect what's actually happening. You have your column inches.
