Pro taxes. Take from the rich, give to the poor. Leave them, oh, 50%. Tax 30% more at death.

Tax everybody else 5-10% at death. I would let each offspring get 100 000 tax free.

People who know stuff.

Look up a political ideology reference if you want. It's the same. Socialism has a definition. Netherlands isn't it.

It's not black or white, the subjective/objective comparison. It's a continuum, and I would argue that the majority of wiki articles, particularly the general kind rather than current political disputes are at least a good way closer to the objective end of the axis rather than the subjective end.

not always as much as people say it is, writers try to stay objective, or it results in edit wars that are generally ended by a more or less objective result.

The wiki thing is a red herring. Scot is resolutely determined to never accept that political ideologies have rigorous definitions.

However, people's take on what is or is not socialist seems to vary a lot, country by country...

Sure, but Netherlands isn't socialist by any formal definition.

No? By the Dutch and Northern European version of socialism it is. This is problem. Harold Wilson's government was called socialist but the UK had hardly changed. No great revolution. The Netherlands after the war was a socialist as any North European country. It has moved slightly to the right but it is still as socialist as any country today.

No. Certain structures maybe but it was the birthplace of socialism as well. How were the dykes and polders built? The companies building them were owned by the people behind them. The community has always been important not the individual. There has not existed a noble class as in many countries. We dont have great land owners. It was and still is a land of merchants.
