Quiet as a church mouse, compared to 2016...... and 2020.

So quiet that the #FakeNews has to manufacture some story about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the young attractive Hispanic #FakeBronx socialist winner of a Democratic primary in a majority Hispanic district. Against an old white guy. And voter turnout was so low she only got ~ sixteen thousand votes.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

That was the primary. Let us hope the liberal majority get all their candidates elected, however low the turnout. The trumpfolks were fishing or driving around in their Big RV or shooting or whatever they do in all their spare time. Here is their shelter to survive the 4 years of the next Democratic president. Nice place to tweet:

It could be good. But did you know an incumbent wins over 95% of the time, or that while we are all affected more by our local government the Presidential election is the only one that gets any turnout --and even it's poor?

I'm trying to keep my give a fuck up though, and I'll be voting.

edit: The importance of local government is another great reason I can't stand all the foreign attention for our President. Like hello, we're a big fucking country with thousands of governments, let that sink in...

...and how much do these micro governments affect our trade relations and military alliances? I'm well aware there are many levels of government, we have similar institutions in Canada, and I'm sure most countries do as well.

I'm glad that many Americans have had enough of Donald Trump's ruination of your country on the world stage and are finding the motivation to engage in the political machine and make some real changes. As Obama recently said, it's critical to engage at all levels of government (to see that administrations like your current one do not rise at any level).

Anyway, here's some good news: https://www.vox.com/2018/7/25/17613518/ ... ocrats-kff

Indeed, I'm going to make an effort to be involved locally.

I mean Obama did what he can do, but if Texas doesn't go along with it then it really meant fuck all for Texans--eh--and if nobody is paying attention locally they'll just assume some President has fucked things up, when in reality it was their neighbors...

Democrats putting weight on midwest for 2018 and 2020:
“And if we don’t have a nominee from the Midwest, our candidate has to basically take up residence in the Midwest. Because I don’t care how charismatic, how persuasive our candidate is, if we cannot re-establish our trust in the Democratic brand in the Midwest, we will not capture the presidency,” Davis said. “Do they have to be from the Midwest? No. Would it help? Absolutely.”

Not good news for Trump. There is an anti Trump movement bubbling up even among some Republican districts
In other results from around the country, Democrats in Michigan nominated a woman as their candidate for governor, continuing a string of victories by women in Democratic primaries nationwide, voters in Missouri handed organized labor a major win on a ballot referendum and a candidate backed by President Trump was locked in a tight race for the Republican nomination for governor in Kansas.

While the final Ohio result remains unsettled, the takeaway for the rest of the country was clear: The district, Ohio’s 12th, was drawn to be a GOP stronghold, but Trump’s election has put it — and similar districts across the country — up for grabs.

The suburbs of Columbus, the state capital, which make up the most populous part of the district, are prime territory for the sort of Republicans who have turned against the party in the Trump era — politically moderate, college educated and affluent.

Yeah well, a small goal. He has too much power, such as tariff and EPA, but November is our chance to make him as much a lame duck as possible.
