"don't fully understand how the process works". Highly relevant here, I think..

Dipped another $200 today... disaster or opportunity? :ask:
Still closed higher than six days ago. I look at it as a micro dead cat bounce. Look at this chart after clicking on "All". The drop is only barely detectable.
You are ignoring the huge gains that Bitcoin has made against the Venezuelan Bolivar.
O deary me. How could I forget? :fp:

I'll hang on to my Bolivars, though. I have a suitcase full of them. I'm told that right now my holding might be enough to buy a chewing gum wrapper. Once the US forces effect regime change (to liberate its people from the commie oppressors, nothing to do with oil reserves, honest), it'll be worth a mint.

The mining process isn't the issue. You don't need to know how gold is mined and processed to invest in it.

He's talking about a separate issue (reduced miners). FFS.

Of course you are right. You will now lose less money on mining Bitcoin.

That will not however make any difference.

The next resistance level is now $2500. If it breaks through this, panic.

I expect it's going down to pre-hype levels. Not sure exactly what that is, but certainly under $1000.

You expect the collectors' market to be that brisk? because the first move of any sensible governement will be to demonetize the old bolivars and to start issuing Venezuelan Trumps in honor of the Great Liberator.

Very interesting

I wonder what our Bitcoin expert thinks of it? I hope he reads the comments as well.

The author of that piece should realize that as fewer people mine, the more profitable it becomes as the algorithm adjusts the work required with regard to the amount of workers working.

See here: https://www.quora.com/Who-adjusts-Bitco ... difficulty

This means that the profitability of mining will increase again after enough people pull the plug on their mining rigs; the follow-on from that is that the price of BTC should again stabilize around the new cost of mining. This has already started to happen: https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-cha ... ulty-chart
