Why we need food regulation:
The Illinois and Iowa Departments of Health are looking into outbreaks of an intestinal illness.

They are investigating whether salads sold at McDonald's caused more than 100 people to get sick.

The Illinois Health Department said a quarter of its cases reported eating McDonald's salads before getting sick.

Both states said McDonald's is cooperating with CDC and FDA in investigating the illnesses.

In a statement to CNN, McDonald's said it will voluntarily stop selling salads at its affected restaurants.

i only eat breakfast at McDonals occasionally, they are everywhere and are open. Most stores have the "senior coffee", usually hot, and wifi, can be handy out here on the prairie in small towns.

Agreed, The closest macs to my home are beyond a quick walk's range (about 800m/half a mile away)... so I never go there, plus, I have a diner that makes excellent pancakes just around the street's corner, and that's barely more expensive than a mac meal, and a lot better.

I drive thru lots of small towns where only the gas station is reliably open. Slightly bigger, it will have a fast food or at least a Dairy Queen. Those are cheap to operate with teen labor. Closed more than 6 months.

Our population is under 2 million. Corn soy bean and cows for most of the land.

I live where the only main university is. The medical school is in the other big city. All the hipsters are here.

MickyD's breakfast muffin thingy is OK, and a Quarter Pounder with cheese is a sure cure for constipation.

Actually the best cure for blocked bowels is Krystal (or White Castle for you Yankees). I used to drive from Nashville to Deland, Fl, weekly when I worked up there, 11 hours one way. There was a Kystal on I-75 in Cordele, Georgia, that was open 24 hrs. I'd stop there on the way down, get 4 Krystal cheeseburgers, 2 Krystal chili pups (little hotdogs), an order of waffle fries with cheese, and a large Coke. I had it timed precisely, I could just make it to the Florida state line and the big welcome station with the clean restrooms before my ass exploded.

A flat tire or accident on the road was problematic.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I stopped at Casey’s gas station for rest room and more coffee. Those are in every town and city in the East half. I swear it’s the same uniformly fat woman in her 30s working at each one. Large red Casey’s t shirt. Very friendly.

We have lunch at the local café in our shopping street. There are four of them which gives a fair choice. We have so many eating places to very posh restaurants the last place I would go to is a Mc or KFC. They are the two American fast food chains that have survived and the clientele tends to be the arso side of town where some dietary advice would not go miss. McDonald also acquired a location that the town council was not happy about but because it is in a historical location they were able to ban all the usual Mac signs. There is only a copper sign saying McDonalds but those restrictions apply to the whole area.

You can go lower that McDonalds. For example.

other than mcDonalds sourcing food from odd places where there used to be jungle, the food is probably more reliable than Waffle House

We have KFC and Rotten Ronnie's here too. When we used to do suspended ceiling renos in schools in the summer, we'd start at 6 AM and I usually supplied the three of us carpenters with Sausage and Eggers and hash browns in the morning from McD. Got you going. We usually installed an air conditioner in the room the night before if it was on the sunny side of the school so it was pleasant to work in. Some of those top story classrooms could get brutally hot in summer, the air circ was shut down and the windows closed! Some older schools actually had condensation running down the walls due to humidity.
