I've had three different trucks, for personal use.

3/4 ton diesel, big engine, mechanically a ruin.

Next, a teeny (smallest wheelbase available) Ford Ranger. Fun fact - used the same number of litres of fuel per week, as the big diesel. Maybe a bit more (gas engine)

Current, a newer model 1/2 ton, which has the best fuel consumption of the lot. Power seats, windows and a/c when I want it.

I don't use it often, but I do need something to haul full sized sheets around in. Good thing we aren't going to stop using hydrocarbons, or this would be a HUGE waste of manufacturing. I need to get another 20 years or so out of it.

For that matter, my furnace was replaced last year. I need another 20 out of THAT, too. (burns oil)

Good thing those 'green new deals' are all pipe-dreams. Otherwise, those bits of personal infrastructure would have been uneconomical indeed.

My neighbour's 'daily-driver' is a bit of a fuel-pig though...makes my rig look downright sensible.

Maximum width here is 2,55m. Anything wider needs a special licence and is subject to restrictions one being you must have a heavy goods licence plus special road tax which is very pricey.

Like making meat-eaters kill and dress out an animal, it would raise personal awareness of the problem.

I love oil, and the tar sands are a more responsible way to get oil, than to bomb a foreign country and make the mess elsewhere. Canada at least makes an effort to force companies to remediate sites.
