Words like that cost nothing. The key is to get actual progress ultimately. We cannot stand on ceremony with North Korea. No matter how much we hate the prison camps and the policies of North Korea, the situation is such that we cannot go to war with them, and that they aren't budging. There is no good solution other than to do a deal. What North Korea wants is economic advancement -- if Kim can be the economic hero of the regime, he can still maintain power. However, we have tried for decades to put enough negative pressure on the country that the Kims will be taken down from within. But it hasn't worked at all, and so now we have to end the nuclear threat, and to do that we have to give North Korea something non-nuclear that it wants as much or more. Then we can work toward liberalization of the government - but Kim is not going to go away if leaders either keep silent or criticize him.

Trump does not no what a deal is that is the problem. He has never negotiated one. Negotiations require intelligence which counts Trump out straight away.
