Your examples are fallacious. A murderer is someone who HAS murdered. A cannibal is someone who HAS eaten human flesh. It's a totally different case.

If someone behaves like a racist, then they are a racist. If someone doesn't behave as a racist, nor self-identify as a racist, then they aren't a racist. The equation and logic couldn't be simpler. Technically, this is incomplete, as someone could believe a race is superior to another race, and hence "be" a racist, without either self-identifying as one, or doing racist things. I.e., a racist can hire black people as a way to comply with the law and avoid civil rights lawsuits, all while believing them to be inferior workers.

Obviously, if someone is a racist, but does nothing and says nothing racist, then it doesn't "matter" to anyone else if they are a racist in their own mind. But, technically, the person would still be a racist.

If their actions aren't racist, then what point is there in identifying them as racist? They're not racist, they are moral citizens.

A hilarious example is glass recycling here. You pay a deposit when you buy the container, and get that deposit back (via a government program/building/staff) when you return it.

After they are returned, they are smashed and the waste glass dumped in the landfill.

When telling a few leftist friends why I don't recycle (because governments fuck up stuff like that so regularly) citing this as an example, they say it IS important to keep the recycling program so that people keep learning to be recyclers.

They want to keep promoting 'rightthink', even if it costs huge resources to do so.

Your comment referred to "logic." Logically, a person is a racist if they hold racist beliefs, like in the superiority of one race over another. Whether there is any point in identifying them as such is logically a different issue.

If you nevertheless harbor the belief that whites are superior to blacks, even if you neither act on it, nor tell anyone about it (perhaps out of fear of retribution), then you're still a racist.

It logically matters what people think. Someone may never tell anyone they are a Christian, and never attend church, never proselytize, never quote a Christian principle, and never act in any way other than a secular manner, but if they believe in their own head that they are a Christian and that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, then the person is a Christian.

Being racist is not a crime. So it's not thought crime. It's thought. And, the essence of whether someone is a racist is whether they have at least a discriminatory view based on race, or believe one race is superior to others at least in some way. Whether they tell anyone else they are a racist (self-identify) or whether they exhibit that racism in overt action, doesn't change the fact that they harbor racist beliefs. Harboring racist beliefs is what makes you a racist. Saying you're a racist, or doing racist things, is what communicates that belief to others.

Nothing. That comment is in response to your reference to them as "conservative" in nature.

What has to do with thought is that SJWs are very often bleating on about what people think, believe and feel. Their focus on feelings often trumps actions. A person is racist or sexist of a member of a protected group feels they are racist or sexist. A statement is harassment if a person feels that it is harassment. Intent doesn't matter, and the "harasser" doesn't get to tell the "harassed" how to feel about a given comment or action.
