Turnbull is a social liberal and pro-renewables and pro-Republic. His government stands for none of that. Abbott and his fellow whackjobs have been in control of the party since Turnbull took over.

The 'best people' in the Republican party say the damndest things.

"HHS official shared post saying 'forefathers' would have 'hung' Obama, Clinton for treason"
A political appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services shared an image in 2017 that said "our forefathers would have hung" Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for treason, a CNN KFile review has found.

Ximena Barreto is a far-right political pundit who in December 2017 joined the Trump administration as deputy director of communications at the department.

Barreto was placed on leave by the department on Monday after the liberal watchdog Media Matters reported that Barreto called Islam "a cult" and pushed the false Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which alleged that Clinton was part of a child-sex ring based in part at a Washington, DC, pizza restaurant.

A subsequent KFile review of her Twitter account "RepublicanChick" found that Barreto also repeatedly used the hashtag #BanIslam and twice shared conspiracy theories about the death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich. Barreto also shared a conspiracy theory that French President Emmanuel Macron was controlled by the Rothschild family and that Clinton and Obama were controlled by investor and Democratic mega-donor George Soros. Both the Rothschilds and Soros are frequent targets of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

How did we get here? Fox news is now running the country thru Trump.

From Reddit:
Comments on an article on Trump and Foxnews. Trump assumes his base has the same views as Fox. And they do! Also, a good part, some 80%, of registered Republicans also do. The only things some Republicans might disagree on are religion and fiscal issues. Many people are traditional penny pinchers and not as racist as Fox viewers. All in my state are.
https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comme ... n_or_even/

1 Fox news is on the level of RT. It's the GOP's propaganda wing. The GOP is running the country at the moment, effectively making FOX News state television. Their role in sensationalizing news, spreading disinformation, fear-mongering, inciting racial tensions/hatred, glorifying anti-intellectualism can not be understated. They have pushed many borderline nutjobs over the brink by giving credence to their bullshit views.

2 The issue is it’s hard to hurt FoxNews.

First off, they already have their base basically brainwashed to believe whatever they say and never question pretty much anything(and I’m serious and this is not hyperbole, a small amount of questioning almost any Fox News story would go a long way in changing things). So this means it’s hard for them to lose viewers.

Second, the ad companies have found ways around how toxic it is. They sell things in bundles and sometimes when contacted they don’t even know that’s where they’re putting adspace. The issue is if their viewers won’t guy away they can still sell cheaper ads to places with less morals or that are more burdened financially. Affecting a single show is easy in comparison to hurting a network.

Third, they’re pushing a narrative that the richest people in the world want pushed. If they had zero ads the company would still float around. Between the Mercers, Koch brothers, and Murdoch himself they have more than enough billions to run a propaganda network at a lose especially if they recoup that money by getting people to vote against their best interests and fund huge tax cuts that basically only benefit them.

3 I’ve had this same experience with friends of friends on Facebook. There are a lot of people who would prefer a borderline illiterate Putin puppet in the White House instead of Hillary or any other liberal. I think a lot of it stemmed from 8 years of Obama’s being president. These people hated him from the start and the hatred only grew through Fox News propaganda and the growing disinformation they’ve been fed on their like-minded social media accounts. These people would prefer a dictatorship over a black man as President or a Clinton or any other liberal.

A six term Republican Congressman just got booted off the ballot for the GOP primary. If the decision stands, he's out of Congress!

That's one way to get change.

BTW. I'm going to celebrate this evening because he's my Congressman. :funny:

Politico:
Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill is up for reelection. And like clockwork, the Republican Party of Missouri is in complete turmoil again.

McCaskill won a second term term in 2012 when GOP Rep. Todd Akin’s campaign imploded in the wake of his comments about “legitimate rape.” Now, Republicans worry GOP Gov. Eric Greitens’ mounting scandals will inundate McCaskill’s likely Republican opponent, state Attorney General Josh Hawley, and bestow another term on one of the most endangered incumbent senators in the country.
