Donna Wall cares for her three adult autistic children at her home in Lewiston, Maine. It's a full-time job. Sons Christopher and Brandon have frequent outbursts, and the stress of tending to them can be overwhelming.
When her twin sons turned 18 a year and a half ago, Maine's Medicaid program dropped her health insurance. Wall is considered a "childless adult" in Maine and other states that didn't expand Medicaid, and so she isn't eligible for coverage. She can no longer get her antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. She can't see her psychologist or a doctor to check up on a troubling spot on her eye.

Republicans just want cheap labor, never dealing with immigrants in any new law:
The Goodlatte bill meets all those requirements but also would crack down on sanctuary cities, tweak policies governing child migrants and asylum seekers, and require companies to verify the legal status of their workers.

The latter provision, known as E-verify, would put centrist House Republicans in swing districts in a difficult position. Some hail from heavily Hispanic districts where E-verify would disrupt agriculture businesses.

California is the 6th largest economy in the world. It is an economic powerhouse. The education system, while far from perfect, is a damn sight better than what you'll find in most red states. It's one of the few states that actually tries to reduce pollution and gun violence—you know, 1st worldy stuff.

So naturally, the right-wing wackos want to take 90% of it and turn it into a goddamn red state. And of course the Russian trolls and bots are boosting this crap on social media.

Of course, pre-Trump, I'd have simply laughed at this nonsense and quickly forgotten it. But now, I don't know what to think. Nothing seems to fucking matter any more. I suppose I should take comfort in knowing that all previous attempts to split the state have failed, but it ain't easy bein' optimistic in these Trumpy times.

The Trump Effect lol, the economy is doing really, really good.
Apple Inc.'s move to pump around $350 billion into the U.S. economy over the next five years marks not only the biggest domestic corporate investment program in history but may also provide further price support for record-high stocks as companies use the recently-passed tax overhaul to repatriate trillions in overseas cash.

Apple unveiled plans to pay a tax bill of around $38 billion on an undefined portion of its $252.2 billion overseas cash pile Wednesday while announcing plans to spend $30 billion on both existing company sites and a new campus that will be "powered entirely by green energy". The Cupertino, California-based company also said it would increase its headcount by around 20,000 and said its overall contribution to the U.S. economy will top $350 billion over the next five years
.
Apple's decision to repatriate some of its $252 billion cash pile could spark a wave of similar moves to bring back an estimated $3 trillion in overseas dollars.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
