Who's telling porkies?

The government may be stockpiling medicines but the Brexit secretary, Dominic Raab, has promised consumers there will be no shortage of ingredients for the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich in the event the UK crashes out of the EU.

But Britain’s leading bacon supplier, the owner of Danepak, warned that while there may not be shortages, the price of the BLT might go up as the vast majority of rashers come from the EU and could be hit by tariffs.

Raab made his remarks to rebut recent claims by the British Sandwich Association there could be a shortage of fresh food in the event of the UK crashing out of the UK.

“Who is credibly suggesting in a no-deal scenario the EU would not want to sell food to UK consumers? Let me assure you that, contrary to one of the wilder claims, you will still be able to enjoy a BLT after Brexit,” said Raab....

Well today is a 'big day' in the sense that there is an actual proposed deal on the table. It is 500 pages long and so far only a few ministers in the government have read it (well seen it - it has only been available since yesterday). Leaks and the general drift of it seems to be that our trade arrangements will remain more or less the same for now and the UK will be bound by EU regulations regarding that. In most other respects the cord is cut.

The news here is more or less non stop about this subject. High political drama as May has to get it through her cabinet ( very likely) and then through Parliament (not as likely but possible) and the EU countries have to agree too.

There is huge opposition from the 'leave' camp to the implications of this. It could ultimately bring down this government. Unpredictable days.

The UK is tied in for unlimited time. The status of Northern Ireland is even tighter. The DUP wont like it.
It has very little chance of making it.

The government have taken back control and then given the EU a veto on future trading arrangements. Both Blair and Johnson are calling it 'the worst of both worlds,' but if that's what it takes to keep the darkies out....

Yep another side of it. It is a botch. The UK will stay in the SM and CU until the EU decide they can pull out. No time limit. It is just crazy but to be expected as the EU was holding all the cards.

Well the cabinet has agreed it as of now.

As to the 'botch' there really was no other choice as I see it, unless we were to go down the disastrous route of just breaking all links.
