I think I might start buying tinned food every time I go shopping and stockpile it. I'm not expecting an apocalypse but the supermarket shelves got pretty sparse around here after just three days of snow. The kind of trade delays we could face if we leave with no deal could easily see a couple week's of empty shelves and skyrocketing prices before the government gets their act together.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Not like you are spreading panic or anything.

October is the next crunch point now.

Should buy MREs with FRHs in them, in case the power goes out.

Amsterdam has a port but it is of little significance. Rotterdam is still the biggest in Europe.
In the world it is fifth which is saying something though:

But of course once again definitions play a role. Europe:

Well, thank for clearing that up. I was mixed up because of an old song by Belgian/French singer Jacques Brel about the Port of Amsterdam

Meh. Port Hedland shouldn't even be there. So, 452 million tons p.a.? Firstly, 100% of the tonnage is outgoing only, and secondly, it's nothing but coal. Economically, it's only significant to the profitability of the owners of our coal mines, subsidiaries of multinational and mostly headquartered in some Caribbean tax haven, and a couple of thousand employees that actually do the work.

It was destroyed almost back in the 70's when the Mobil oil terminal blew up. Two tankers were unloading at the time. Human error. They were using metal coat hangers to by-pass the safety system. Only one tanker should be unloaded at one time.

Great song mind. Love Brel.

i dont think you would find any of today's pretty boys putting their all into a song like that.

well, some say that Antoine (same generation as Brel btw) and Stromae (I don't really know him, but I have doubts) do too.

Here is the Dutch version, written by Brel (he was Belg and multilingual)

Still sounds as good.

So government whips have been caught strongarming Tory MPs into voting with the government on the Brexit bill when they had pairing agreements with other parties to abstain. Devious swine.
