No they did not. The missile was in space at the time. It was over 100 km high, therefore was not in Japanese airspace, therefore did not fly over Japan.

Remember Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, and Syria. They were all gullible and took the hollow promises of non-aggression at face value. The North Koreans don't want to make the same mistake...

Indeed so. The last time nuclear weapons were openly used was was by the USA in August 1945. I say "openly" because there is some evidence that 'mini-nukes' have been used since then, as well as many tons of depleted Uranium. If Japan had atomic bombs at that time the United States would not have dared bomb Hiroshima & Nagasaki. That's why the MAD doctrine was developed.

Gaddafi, Saddam, and Assad were foolish & forgot that. They became frogs with scorpions on their back, promising that they would not be stung. But halfway across the pond the United States DID sting them. Excusing itself by saying "It's in my nature to be duplicitous & to sting, I can't help it!"

North Korea must develop its arsenal as best and as fast as it can, otherwise it too will be destroyed. Now, it may be that it will be destroyed anyway, but at least it'll have a fighting chance of giving a bloody nose, or worse, to the aggressor...
