I've been sitting here trying to think of something to write about this terrible senseless killing and injuring. Words fail me, except to say twisted minds twisted by religion are responsible.
No news yet of the bombers identity.

Saying that the Quakers are active in that area along with a battalion of Jehovah's Witnesses, but my guess is what we are seeing is a Mormon insurgency... :tea:

I don't think it was meant to be that kind of funny.

Police know who the bomber was and have arrested a 23 year old man. Apparently other arrests are being made.

My condolences to the victims, England, and the UK.

So, May has ordered soldiers on the streets as a 'precaution'. What utter bollocks. They won't be able to do anything to prevent a determined suicide bomber. All their presence will achieve is to give the general public a sense of false security which will have the effect of reducing vigilance. The French tried it and they still had terrorist attacks.

If these terrorists or those that are susceptible to extremist influences are 'known', as it was in this case, then they and their premises and associates should be searched and investigated on a regular basis and their movements tracked 24/7.

Oh, wait a minute - that will cost money... Can't have that now, can we.

The investigation into the bombers associates mights have been more successful if the Americans hadn't released his name :banghead:
"If these terrorists or those that are susceptible to extremist influences are 'known', as it was in this case, then they and their premises and associates should be searched and investigated on a regular basis and their movements tracked 24/7."
and next we introduce a law against "thought crimes" ? Just how many people are "susceptible to extremist influences" do you think ? There are already a raft of freedoms and rights we have given up in the name of anti-terrorism And if the army is used temporally to guard high profile events or places so actual police can get on and do more searching and investigating I fail to see your problem.

So, a couple of people or more get together and have a 'think' and decide that they must carry out the commands of their 'Holy Book' and find a way to kill 'non-believers' and at the same time exact revenge for something that happened about 800 years ago. They had some 'deep thought' and decided to construct a weapon that would kill many people in one go. They then decided that one of their members should carry the weapon and mingle with the crowd and set it off. The 'target' would include any security personnel and armed militia who wouldn't know that they are targeted because of the nature of the infiltration.
Guarding 'high profile events and places' in these situations is irrelevant since the object of these nutjobs is to kill as many people as possible - including any armed militia.
If any of them were spotted by security personnel or ordered to join a queue for a routine search, they would immediately set the bomb off killing and wounding all around.

Now, it just so happens that these people and their intentions are known to the authorities.

So, how would you stop them?

You point a pistol in their general direction and shout: "HANDS UP, OR I'LL SHOOT!!!" It's bound to work. John Wayne used to do it all the time. :ddpan:
