Creeps love a lightning rod, and their bilious cheap shots at the flavor of the month bring us this surreal story.
If she were a man <snipped blithering>
My post highlighted a colorful and amusing story about the right wing side-show attached to the media circus around Ocasio-Cortez. She chose to enter the political game; she'll take her lumps like any other politician, and your long-winded self justification is irrelevant. Many American politicians say ill-informed and ridiculous things but predictably, you've chosen Ocasio-Cortez as a particular focus of your spluttering scorn.
No, I've chosen Ocasio-Cortez to be among the myriad politicians whose ill-informed and ridiculous things I scorn. Unlike some, I don't limit my spluttering scorn to just one politician, or even one type of politician. What's really happening is that some try to suggest that she's getting some extra-special attention, when, in fact, she's not being treated any differently than any other politician.

A porn video recently surfaced, with someone claiming it was her.

True or false, it doesn't change my opinions of her.

First, when she said that she and her colleagues should have their pay frozen for the duration of the shutdown, I thought it was wise and caring.

When she later fled questions about the same issue, I lost a bit of respect for her. If (after saying what she did) she takes her paycheque, I will think she's just another rich asshole politician.

But any idiot could have taxed the rich at 70% marginal rate all along. It’s the 1% that bought off all the politicians.

Let the rich leave. Just tax every dollar they take with them at 50%. Good riddance.

AOC is the perfect antidote to the scumbag in the White House. Like that shitstain every attempt to discredit her or take her down has backfired. Like that national disgrace she drives the opposition into a frenzy. All while being in moral opposition. I don't expect she has a history of fraud, ripping-off, bankruptcy, rape, sexual assault, racism, and cruelty. And she doesn't advocate environmental vandalism, pollution, shifting wealth to the top 1%, inequality, xenophobia, conspiracy theories, crippling the education system, a healthcare system seemingly based off an erroneous understanding of survival of the fittest, and befriending Nazis and terrorists.

No wonder the right can't tolerate her. She shows their "strong arm" leader for the weak, ineffectual coward he is. I bet some of them would love to punch her in the face.

They don't need to leave, and they can move their money offshore quite easily without any taxes.

The range of schemes that have been made available are vast. They vary from being blatantly illegal, to quite subtle and completely legal.

I've "chosen" her to be AMONG THE MYRIAD POLITICIANS WHOSE ILLINFORMED AND RIDICULOUS THINGS I SCORN - and I don't limit my scorn to one politician or one type of politician. What that means, if you are having trouble, is I've not singled her out, but chosen her in the same way I've scorned many others.

I.e. - she's chosen in the same way any other idiot politician is chosen - all such idiots are part of the subset of politicians called "idiots." And, She Guevara is one of that ilk. That's not treating her differently -- she's judged on her statements, and she qualifies herself into the idiot group almost daily.

How the fuck is that a contradiction?

Oh, no, I've been convinced. Higher taxes makes a stronger economy, and if you want to pay a $40 trillion dollar bill, well, "you just pay it." One of the three branches of Congress will fix it.

Offshore? No way! It's the US that is the pro-1% place - the capitalist nightmare! "Offshore" means it's part of the "civilized world." You know, Switzerland, where they do everything properly, and with a view to the common good. And, Liechtenstein and Luxemborg. The famous "Cayman Islands" - well, you know, they're a British dependency, and as a very properly formed and governed European nation, in the first world, western industrialized, social democracy of the good kind - unlike the awful, terrible, no good, United States - they would never allow anything but the fairest, most open, and properly taxed accounts to be opened in the Cayman Islands. British Crown Colonies are part of the "civilized world."

And Australia - now called the "Switzerland of the South Pacific." That must mean that the Chinese money pouring into Oz is all properly vetted, and properly taxed, because that's how smart, first world, civilized countries do it. They make sure that the wealth is distributed egalitarian-like.

I'm surprised that people don't recognize that the best place to open up accounts is actually in the US, since we are the libertarian wonderland of unregulated banking. Couldn't be that the current and former colonial holdings of European countries are the ones that are doing all the offshore-money-moving-to-avoid-taxes stuff. What enlightened, social democracy would allow that?
