Vote to open some parts. Mitch Turtle obstructs
The Democratic-led House approved a bill Wednesday to reopen the Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service and Small Business Administration, among other federal agencies.
The chamber voted 240-188 to advance the measure, with eight Republicans bucking party lines to back the bill, which is the first of four bills expected to be brought to the floor by Democrats.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late
Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

A very rare breed though. We have to preserve them as a good reference point in aspic.

I'm sure you must have a point, but dashed if I can see it, fellow.Forty Two wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 3:16 pmOffshore? No way! It's the US that is the pro-1% place - the capitalist nightmare! "Offshore" means it's part of the "civilized world." You know, Switzerland, where they do everything properly, and with a view to the common good. And, Liechtenstein and Luxemborg. The famous "Cayman Islands" - well, you know, they're a British dependency, and as a very properly formed and governed European nation, in the first world, western industrialized, social democracy of the good kind - unlike the awful, terrible, no good, United States - they would never allow anything but the fairest, most open, and properly taxed accounts to be opened in the Cayman Islands. British Crown Colonies are part of the "civilized world."rainbow wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 9:34 amThey don't need to leave, and they can move their money offshore quite easily without any taxes.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 6:42 amLet the rich leave. Just tax every dollar they take with them at 50%. Good riddance.
The range of schemes that have been made available are vast. They vary from being blatantly illegal, to quite subtle and completely legal.
And Australia - now called the "Switzerland of the South Pacific." That must mean that the Chinese money pouring into Oz is all properly vetted, and properly taxed, because that's how smart, first world, civilized countries do it. They make sure that the wealth is distributed egalitarian-like.
I'm surprised that people don't recognize that the best place to open up accounts is actually in the US, since we are the libertarian wonderland of unregulated banking. Couldn't be that the current and former colonial holdings of European countries are the ones that are doing all the offshore-money-moving-to-avoid-taxes stuff. What enlightened, social democracy would allow that?
Care to elucidate, old chum?

You're silly.

Your reply had nothing to do with my comment.
I'll just put it down to Farty's demented blatherings again.
All cleared up, thanks.

I keep my main hidden cash accounts in Broward County Florida. Got a deal with the authorities there, so I don't have to report to the Canadian taxman. (oops - taxperson)
