I keep looking for 'NON-Conservatives' to support in our upcoming federal election (I know, I know, we vote for MP's, not the PM) but with such a dolt running (ruining!) the Liberal party, I can't find it in me to support them.

Trump wasn't offered by the GOP. He defeated the GOP. And, yes, he was far better than the other 15 candidates.

Trump has one thing going for him that She Guevara and the gang don't. Competence. At something. Guts, and the ability to get things done.

He's had about the most successful two years of any president in the last 100. Certainly in my lifetime. Try as one might, that can't be taken away from him. With the forces lined up against him - with nearly all the media against him - with a corrupt political machine against him - with significant portions of his own party against him - with a special counsel probing obvious bullshit and every political camp trying to find any way they can to destroy him - he still succeeds in doing what is right for the country.

I am far more supportive of him than I ever was. And, I can tell you, I admit I was wrong. When he first announced, and all the way up until he won the nomination, I was dead set against Trump. I wasn't "never Trump" - but I was not pro-Trump at all. I was wrong. He was the best candidate in the Presidential race. He was the best candidate among the Republicans. And, he was better than any Democrat that even hinted at running.

I mean, you're speaking of a "businessman" who managed to go 3 times into bankruptcy, including once driving a Fricking casino in Effing Atlantic City into the ground... sure, when he's about talking big and taking poses, like in the "you''re fired" show, he does get things done... but as far as doing stuff efficiently either by himself or by competently steering his underlings... mmmmh, I find that more doubtful. I mean, how many of his first choices for a government team are still part of said team? how many left, what proportion of the original team does that do? how efficient were those that left and how are those that are currently doing the jobs? how many deserved the time honored 'youre fired" even before they presented their resignation? that guy is obviously far too self centred to have any sense of what people are good for a certain job, he's notorious for advancing sycophants rather than competent folk... and the problem is that it's the same for his policies... he pushes what he feels will make him look good rather than what has to be done (hint, a wall)... when he ought to be doing a whole New Deal thing and budgeting massively to rebuild aging infrastructure (and he'd have less trouble getting the dems to agree with him there).
