Obama has a task. He will do all he can to affect the 2018 house elections. Most of his success was grass roots, door to door. Democrats need to go after Republicans that were in so called "Clinton" counties. They can support some of Trump measures but not all. The outrage needs to come from state issues. Trump will step on state rights here and there, though he pretends to support states on sensitive issues (gay marriage, abortion).
Many Dems either don’t know how to relate to people with moderate or mixed views or they don’t want to. They prefer rock stars and celebrities to bus drivers and food service workers. They like cute sayings and clever picket signs, not long and patient listening sessions with people who have complicated interests, people who might not pass the liberal litmus test.

The Trump team will keep running their plays, as the Walker team did. They hope and pray that the opposition will follow the Wisconsin script and indulge in impeachment talk or rigid obstructionism — spending precious time and another fortune on ads and legal costs.

Meanwhile, in the Midwest, where the next set of elections will be decided, the Trump crowd will keep racking up the points in local and statewide elections, preparing for the coup de grace in 2018 and 2020.

Nothing happening now is new. Everything the Trump team is doing is a repeat of the Wisconsin game plan. And, so far, everything his opposition is doing is even more predictable. It’s not too late to change the defense and to play some offense.

I don't see where the democrats hold the high ground on anything. To steal hard working tax payers money is immoral and if you do so then it should be on a limited scale and justify every tax dollar you spend. It is funny how loads of people are risking their money and their very lives to live in countries build by simple white folk. Makes you think or if you are a lefty/liberal which makes you incapable of thinking this just confuses you.
Sure, I want my tax dollars spent on killing tens of thousands of civilians looking for weapons of mass destruction and supporting Exxon with corporate welfare. Moral high ground my ass. Every Republican politician is a white collar criminal.
You realize that Obama has been in power for 8 years, and the Democrats are not innocent bystanders in Congress, right?

Are you under the impression that the US hasn't been warring in the last 8 years? The Democrats and Obama supported bombing campaigns in seven countries, a legally unaccountable drone program, and an open prison at Guantanamo Bay. Obama dramatically escalated the use of drones to kill alleged terrorists far away from recognized war zones. Obama has continued to expand the power of the president to wage covert war. Obama had a practice of whitewashing civilian death tolls. Earlier in the summer of 2016, the administration released a ludicrously conservative estimate of the number of civilians killed by U.S. drones in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. The administration claimed that they had killed between 64 and 116 civilians, while independent estimates say the number could be as high as nine times that. The Obama administration bombed a wedding party in Yemen, and aid workers in Pakistan. The Obama Administration argued in court that citizens cannot go to court to challenge their place on a government kill list, and courts have no role to play in oversight after a strike has taken place.

You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

The TRICK is to step aside and watch the GOP implode
'GOPcare' and the self-destructing Republican Party
Washington Times - ‎Mar 8, 2017‎
The real problem is the GOP is finally acknowledging the base it pays attention to. It is not the base that swept them into power in the House of Representatives in 2010 or in the Senate in 2014. It is not the base that put Donald Trump in the White House.

The base the Republican Party pays attention to is the Chamber of Commerce and the corporate lobbyists. The Chamber insanely wants amnesty for illegal aliens to pass. The GOP ignores the fact this would make the Democrats the permanent majority in about 10 years. Instead they simply ask how high the Chamber wants them to jump. Corporate lobbyists want to strip away the rights of American citizens to go to court and sue, so the GOP promptly throws the U.S. Constitution into the Obama-Pelosi industrial strength shredder. Insurance lobbyists want Obamacare to be turned into an even bigger cash cow for them so they go to the Republican leadership and they get GOPcare.

At this point, it probably is not a shock that the Republican leadership is not listening to the base that put them in power. Not a single major conservative leader or conservative organization has come out in support of this bill. Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul oppose it. The House Freedom Caucus opposes the bill and that could be enough to kill it.

But for the Republican Party, the damage is done. Clearly there are few in the Republican Leadership who remember or understand why 2006 and 2008 happened. In both of those elections, the conservative base became so disgusted with the Republican Party. The voters were tired of the Republicans telling the folks at home they were conservative, then going to Washington and being big spenders. The voters punished the GOP and it took the Tea Party’s message of fiscal conservatism to save the GOP.

Nebraska billionaire governor tampers with Georgia election:

Handel’s showing was due to more than name recognition from her long tenure in state politics. She also benefited from $1.3 million in support from Ending Spending, a conservative advocacy group aligned with the billionaire Ricketts family.

National GOP groups, meanwhile, are readying new waves of television advertising.

$1.3 mil? Chickenfeed. Ossoff raised over 8.3 million and still couldn't win in a district primed for a Democratic coup, even with massive outside support from the usual suspects (Samuel L Jackson, Daily Kos, etc). Looks like support is pretty evenly split across party lines when you add in all the other candidates (3 Dems, 15 GOP). I predict the GOP will retain the seat in a narrowly contested run off.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

1.3 million was just one donor. The donors will feed all now to the sole republican in June.

Some sort of tax and spend Sanders type plan. Some Democrats blame Hillary for no plan.

I wonder if they'll include Bernie Sanders in this.

CNN columnist is right. Schumer speech seems to be more Hillary. Certainly we need to retrain some sisplaced workers, but there is no Sanders fire and government is still somewhat evil.
