The suzerain Trump

Post by DRSB » Sun Dec 18, 2016 7:40 am

Merriam-Webster: definition of suzerain

1: a superior feudal lord to whom fealty is due : overlord
2: a dominant state controlling the foreign relations of a vassal state but allowing it sovereign authority in its internal affairs

Think of big corporations and Wall Street residents and the White House now!

This thread can become the continuation of the very long already Reign-thread.

Obscure word found in legal documents and dusty old history books. Trump doesn't need a special additional term to improve on the who, why, what and where of things.

He's no suzerain, he's a robber baron.

Many aspects of the Trump phenomenon are just unspeakable, beyond words, many people are in stupour, unable to make head or tails of it, so yes, being at a loss for words calls for obscure terms to convey this groping for sense and meaning.

The 'Make America Great Again' mythology as espoused by Trump, that the US, through him, can, should, and must dominate and control the economic activity of other nations, is certainly suzerainesque.

Seconded!
Equally though, enlisting Russia's help adds one more layer of absurdity and sort of defeats the purpose.

I don't know if Trump or his campaign enlisted Russia in that respect. My personal view is that Russia probably just wanted to chuck some spanners in the machinery and make the US look ridiculous. The fact that Trump got elected is just a bonus.

As Trump Signals Climate Action Pull Back, Local Leaders Push Forward.

Looks like local mayors and governors are determined to go ahead with green energy plans regardless of what Trump and his cartoon-villain cronies say. I'm hoping to see more of this. Over the next four years America needs to become The United States of Fuck Trump.

Confirmation of what we've all suspected. Trump supporters live in an alternate reality.
