greens, you're crazy as a loon, those guys are dangerous antigrowth fanatics... with them, the availability of power will dwindle while the prices soar.
You're full of surprises. I did not expect you to be informed about the federal policies of the Australian Greens.

Everybody seems to be doing the early voting thing this time. I'm a traditionalist, I'll vote on Saturday. Not that it will matter, we're in a blue ribbon Liberal seat...

The Greens are the only true progressive party here in Australia, although the current Labor party is as left as it has been since before Paul Keating as treasure in the 80's.

their notion of 'progress' is dangerous, they see wilderness as more important than their constituents... that or they are not truely green.

Rubbish. They are what the general left was in the 80's.

You still haven't read the Australian Greens' policies, have you?

You've also got to remember that we have preferential voting, so I'm not necessarily voting for the government with my first preference. If I was, I'd have to think a bit harder about it.

Well, to start with , their energy policy does not seem very realistic, renewables provide power when the weather wills it, not when it's actually needed, and we lack the technology for efficient stocking of energy.

Rubbish. Battery technology and pumped hydro are better options than coal for stable electricity delivery.

What exactly is unrealistic about the Australian Greens' energy policy? I've searched for the bit where they announced their policy of abolishing fossil fuel based energy production faster than provision for baseloads by renewables can replace them, but I can't seem to find it. Can you help me out, or have you still not read up on what you're talking about?

massive dependance on so cwellalled renewable energy sources... until we have massive stocking cabacity, so that the energy generated while there is little need can be redirected to fullfill demand when there is no generation going (say, solar panels when there's a boost of demand at night)... something is off

Quote the relevant statement from the link I provided. Again: I've searched for the bit where they announced their policy of abolishing fossil fuel based energy production faster than provision for baseloads by renewables can replace them, but I can't seem to find it. Can you help me out, or have you still not read up on what you're talking about?

I think 100% by 2030 is possibly optimistic. But it should be possible to have a large majority (80-90%) by then, with the rest coming from gas generators.
