Fuck off, "China Virus", we can do better with our Aussie bats!

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-07/ ... e/12958286
A Biosecurity Queensland laboratory test has confirmed a case of lyssavirus in a bat found in the state's far north as health authorities report a surge in flying fox bites and scratches.

ABLV infection in humans causes a serious, rabies-like illness that can result in paralysis, delirium, convulsions and death.

Paralysis, delirium, and convulsions I can cope with. Death, not so much.

There are at least half a dozen open-cut iron ore mines like that within 70 kilometres of my home, all of them holy places to the local Aborigines.

Much more importantly, those mines are holy places to global corporatism...

Here is an interesting article about a few aspects of a large survey of Aussie attitudes, which took place last year:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-10/ ... s/12955570

One of the interesting questions (#3 in the article) was "How much do you trust the following countries to act responsibly in the world?"

Interestingly, Australia was only # 2 in trust - survey respondents thought that New Zealand would be more responsible than us! ;)

Also, both our WW2 enemies, Germany and Japan, were viewed as more trustworthy than the US! How times have changed...

What was the failure? Covid related?

This Aussie survey happened before covid. It would be interesting to see how the answers have changed by now...
