I've seen a number of articles suggesting that the congress raid was a case of white supremacy in action. I haven't read any of the articles. I feel like they will annoy me. How could it be about white supremacy? Did any of the rioters go on about white power?

Seems to me there's a lot of rhetoric being thrown around. Some are calling it a coup attempt. That was the most piss weak coup attempt I've ever seen. Almost no guns, and casually leaving the building when they got bored with the looting and vandalism.

The entire MAGA movement is about white supremacy and white entitlement and white grievance over "their" country being "taken" from them by non-whites and non-christians.

There were a few confederate flags in the crowd, and several people from neo-nazi groups.

Plus, imagine if it had been a BLM protest, how different the security response would have been...

In addition to guns, there were also two bombs (that we know of). And the purpose of the attack was to stop the certification of the new administration by congress. That's pretty coup-y.

And what if the congress people hadn't been evacuated in time? What would the mob have done to them? Think of what that mob would have done to someone like Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib (two muslim congress members).

A shitty coup attempt is still a coup attempt...
