I see New Zealand has band the foreign ownership of property.

The NZ government banned the purchase of residential real estate by foreigners only. Most everything else, such as grocery chains, what's left of the manufacturing industry, banking, insurance and other financial institutions is owned by foreigners and nobody objects to more of that happening.
