Tory activists 'mad swivel-eyed loons'

David Cameron ally brands rebel Tory activists as 'mad swivel-eyed loons'

A close aide to David Cameron has dismissed party activists as “mad swivel-eyed loons” in an outburst set to infuriate grassroots Tories.

The comment was made by a senior Tory who said MPs are having to put up a show of opposition to gay marriage and Europe simply to keep local Conservative associations sweet.

He suggested that were it not for the demands of party activists the MPs would be far less likely to take up extreme positions that have undermined the Prime Minister in recent weeks.

Referring to Wednesday’s vote when 116 Tory MPs voted against the Queen’s Speech, he said: It’s fine. There’s really no problem. The MPs just have to do it because the associations tell them to, and the associations are all mad swivel-eyed loons.”

(continued, sounds like one of William Hague's mindfarts?)

I am so happy and proud that I have absolutely no idea what a "Tory" is.

Tory = Conservative. Not as rabid as yours on the whole though.

Happy and proud? Figures.

To be fair, if it was said, it was probably accurate. Activists of most affiliations tend to have their fair share of "mad swivel-eyed loons", except, surprisingly the Society for Mad Swivel-eyed loons, which is a bunch of hand wringing upper middle class folks who want mad swivel-eyed loons to be treated fairly and equally and given a voice.

They don't much like Whigs.

BTW, I've heard there is an new eye-swivel removal procedure. Is it covered by the NHS?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
