(Reuters) - Egyptian protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. embassy on Tuesday, tore down the American flag and burned it during a protest over what they said was a film being produced in the United States that insulted Prophet Mohammad.

A US official has been killed and others wounded after militiamen stormed the US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, security officials say.

It is believed the protest was held over a US-produced film that is said to be insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

The building is said to have burnt down after being set alight by protesters. It is thought nobody was in the consulate at the time.

This film is a pretext. Nobody over there would have heard about that film if it wasn't for leaders there whipping people up into a frenzy with it.

There is another purpose for this besides venting anger at anti-Islamic films. This is political.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the attack “in the strongest terms,” adding that while the United States “deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others … there is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.” Wednesday morning, Obama released his own statement condemning “the outrageous attack.”

I condemn the condemnation of the denigration of religious beliefs. This is particular true where, as here, we haven't even seen the damn film. How do we even know it is insulting? How do they even know?

Fuck them. If we are in the US and an amateur filmaker can't make a film denigrating Islam without them attacking our consular offices, then something has to change over there, not here. How stupid. You think Marines and Seals are some kind of super-soldiers that cannot be matched? When technological advantages are neutralised, and the other side control hearts, minds, and intelligence, marines and seals are as defeatable as any other group of soldiers. These particular Libyans, (if they are Libyans - they could be a bunch of mujehads) have just spent a year or two fighting a guerrilla war against a dictator. They will not be afraid, and will be prepared. It is almost certainly what they want.

I mean, small Vietnamese men and women did it to you in South-East Asia. It is happening in Afghanistan and Iraq. Are you so deluded that you want to mire the USA into a another guerrilla war?
