Another sign is that no new wars have been started since Bush left the White House, and nobody is being tortured, at least officially.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:http://economywatch.msnbc.msn.com/_news ... r-year-low
If Bush had been able to do another term, I think that there is a good chance that he would have been at war with Iran by now.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

I'm a jobless American!! For the time being. But I chose to be, so maybe that doesn't count. Nvm.

The last three or four paragraphs of that article sort of suck the wind out of it. It's because the auto plants are waiting a month or so to lay off plant workers.
The drop was only 26,000 - to about 350,000 new claims. The three month moving average is only down 9,000 or so.
And, this statistic is "new claims" -- and doesn't imply a reduction in the unemployment rate.

.Last Friday, July 6, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’s Monthly Employment Situation report revealed that the U.S. economy generated only 80,000 net new jobs in June, falling 150,000 jobs short for the third month in a row of even keeping up with population growth
http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/ ... n-on-taxesToday there is a pervasive sense that what lurks around the corner is recession. One would be hard-pressed to locate economic indicators that suggest otherwise: the service sector of the economy is barely expanding, the manufacturing sector appears to be contracting for the first time since 2009, and consumer confidence is down for the fourth straight month.
Because the economic situation is so bad, the Federal Reserve is considering another round of “quantitative easing” — a monetary policy of injecting more debt-fueled money into the economy. Many economists fear this could ignite other problems, including inflation.

At least Obama isn't fiddling.. er golfing.

No new wars perhaps, but I don't recall Bush ever authorizing the killing of an American citizen without trail.
Obama did, with associated "collateral damage" of women and children.
Waterboarding at least didn't kill innocents.

Nero - Fiddling while Rome burned (according to legend)
Bush - Announces 'war on terror' followed by 'watch this drive'
Message: At least Obama takes his tenure as President more seriously.

Oh, well. Bush, like 24 rounds of golf in 2 years, and then announces that it's probably not the best thing to do in a time of war. Obama, 100 rounds of golf and counting. Clearly, the former is far worse than the latter.PordFrefect wrote:I guess the compound reference was missed.Coito ergo sum wrote:Is 500 or hours of golf a lot?PordFrefect wrote:At least Obama isn't fiddling.. er golfing.
