How long did you have to look to find a graph that looks like that? :hehe:

I see your "percent change" graph and raise you five linear graphs:

You're going to pretend the New York Times is biased against Obama now?

Your linear graphs all end in 2010. Mine goes through and including the 1st Q of 2012. And, it's not "mine" -- it's the New York Times, once again....not known for being pro-Republican...

As much as you blokes want to spin it....it doesn't change the fact that corporate profits spiked way down, and then spiked way up (coinciding with a fuck load of loose money and a trillion dollars in government handouts), since then, it's a downward trend. Period.

Okay, if you want something more recent, how's this for "spin":

http://www.businessinsider.com/corporat ... low-2012-6
http://mam.econoday.com/byshoweventfull ... 4&cust=mam

Two articles from business publications published within the last couple months. And there are some pretty graphs with them too.

Your "downward trend, period" looks like a load of crap to me.

But why read when you can have Fox Business explain it to you:

Oh, I see Ian linked to the BI article where the graphs I posted came from.

Coito's trying to prove that he's not biased because he used a NYT graph. What he's hoping we'll not notice is that the graph he used depicted a percentage of the change in the growth of corporate profits from year to year, not their actual values.

When one is standing on a plateau, one should not gripe that there doesn't seem to be much altitude gained since ascending the cliff.

The Republicans seem to have a hard time accepting responsibility for their mistakes.

Let's say, arguendo, that the items you posted are right, and the NYTimes graph is wrong.

Why would you folks support Obama?
In short, our current system and philosophy is creating a country of a few million overlords and 300+ million serfs.
http://www.businessinsider.com/corporat ... z22rZ3nBzn

After all -- you got your health reform -- you got your comprehensive financial regulation -- you got your banking regulations -- you got your consumer finance reform -- you got your Dodd-Frank legislation (biggest banking reform legislation since the Great Depression) -- you got your National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility - all sorts of stuff.....

If all it's doing is giving us the biggest boon to corporate profits, and creating "300 million serfs" then I guess he's not our man, is he?

For some of you to point fingers at others and claim "bias" is really a laugh.

I'll grant that that you are correct on the chart interpretations. I read the NYTimes chart as a percent decline in corporate profits, but it apparently is as you say, a percent decline in the increase of corporate profits.
