Re: The dangers of supporting SOPA
SOPA in Navy parlance is Senior Officer Present Afloat (to separate "real" commands from shore billets.) If you don't support SOPA there will be dangers involved.

I thought that the proper way to express this was "Watch yersel', ye scurvy dog, or ye'll be swabbin' decks"?Ian wrote:Watch the sarcasm or you'll be in for some NJP.Gawdzilla wrote:Sir, yes sir!Ian wrote:Zilla beat me to it.

I always wondered about dogs. So the Chihuahua could be daddy and the St Bernhard the mommy. But not the other way around.
Doggy derail.

I got rid of GoDaddy several years ago over the owner's stance on hunting big game wildlife. I'm not surprised at all about this.

What was their stance?maiforpeace wrote:I got rid of GoDaddy several years ago over the owner's stance on hunting big game wildlife. I'm not surprised at all about this.
Mine is: If it's not a pest/overpopulated and you're not going to eat it, then don't kill it.
I despise purely ego-driven trophy hunting. Take a goddamn picture if you really feel the need to rise to the challenge of getting that close to a wild animal.
My father, about the butchest guy you could meet, stopped actually shooting the wild turkeys he hunted when we figured out nobody particularly liked the meat. So now he just calls them and takes their pictures. he doesn't even care that the pictures turn out kinda crappy because he uses a cheap old Kodak point and shoot. He found out he just likes to interact with them, so that's what he does.
A damn lot different attitude than what a lot of these "sportsmen" seem to have.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
