Tens of thousands of South Korean computers set to self-destruct on Friday
From the BNO Newsroom.
SEOUL (BNO NEWS) -- Ten of thousands of virus-contaminated personal computers in South Korea are programmed to "self-destruct" on Friday, government officials warn.
The warning comes after a third consecutive day of cyber attacks against South Korean government websites, taking many of them offline for hours. U.S. government websites, including websites of the White House, the U.S. State Department and the New York Stock Exchange, have experienced similar attacks over the past week. None of them were affected.
Both South Korea and the United States have said they suspect the North Korean government to be behind the cyber attacks.
But the cyber attacks are now said to enter a new phase, the Yonhap news wire reported on early Friday. "The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said it has been notified by computer vaccine company Ahn Lab that the so-called "distributed denial-of-service" (DDoS) virus, which is responsible for initiating the ongoing cyberspace war in South Korea, was set to destroy at least 20,000 contaminated PCs across the nation," a report from the news agency said.
The report said the virus has been programmed to automatically destroy the computer's stored data starting Friday. It did not say if any foreign computers had been infected by the virus.

Now you tell me! I really wish I had not been downloading all those porn images from South Korean porn sites that FBM let me know about.
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Why has N. Korea gone mad?

(Since 1945) It always has been, it always has been. JUST CUT THE INTERNET TRUNK LINES TO THESE BASTARDS TO PUNISH THEM AND KEEP THEM FROM DOING THIS AGAIN! :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: (unless they just use satellites, but I think they're too broke to be able to do that)Existentialist1844 wrote:Why has N. I'll bet this bunch could straighten Kim Jong-il out in short order. Just get Exi to revive his 'Oh Slam!', let him see some of 'zilla's files, throw a few furries into the mix...

Nothing reported in the papers...my computer still works...
Edit: I stuck my head out the door and looked at the people walking around. They didn't look particularly cyber-struck or Internet-less. Then again, they're a pretty inscrutable lot...
