Breast cancer survivor forced into invasive patdown by TSA, even after submitting to backscatter imaging scan
At what point does the need for security eclipse human dignity and compassion?
Yesterday I went through the imaging scanner at JFK Terminal 4 for my Virgin America flight to San Francisco. Evidently they found something, because after the scan, I was asked to step aside to have my breast area examined. I explained to the agent that I was a breast cancer patient and had a bilateral mastectomy in April and had tissue expanders put in to make way for reconstruction at a later date.
I told her that I was not comfortable with having my breasts touched and that I had a card in my wallet that explains the type of expanders, serial numbers and my doctor’s information (pictured) and asked to retrieve it. This request was denied. Instead, she called over a female supervisor who told me the exam had to take place. I was again told that I could not retrieve the card and needed to submit to a physical exam in order to be cleared. She then said, “And if we don’t clear you, you don’t fly” loud enough for other passengers to hear. And they did. And they stared at the bald woman being yelled at by a TSA Supervisor.
To my further dismay, my belongings, including my computer, were completely out of sight. I had no choice but to allow an agent to touch my breasts in front of other passengers.

On one hand this is farcical and shows that America is a dystopian society, on the other hand she might be an American that pushed for the wars and praises every American extra-judicial murderer. I don't know what to think. Just desserts?
I have a steel intra-medullary pin in my right leg. A metal detector in Chicago picked it up and the examiner made me go through a full body check, even though a blind man could have seen that I wasn't carrying anything on my leg, the only place the hand-held scanner alerted to. The flight attendants were closing the doors when I finally got to the check-in. Three seconds later, and I would've missed the flight. I think they train these people to avoid common sense and put all their faith in the machinery and the procedure.

You're forgetting your own rules, Gawd. As an American citizen, her government is automatically representative of who she is. Therefore she deserves any discomfort she might get.

Because unlike you Americans, I can see the bigger picture.
Oh come on now, I don't hate you, I'm asking a perfectly reasonable question. All you ever do on this forum is talk about how much you hate certain countries and why you think everyone should either hate them too or suffer with them. It goes way, way, way beyond mere criticism. So where does it all come from? Why are you such an angry fanatic? Did an Israeli soldier butt-rape you as a child or something? Let's hear about what makes Gawd tick.
Come on Kid, don't just stand there and throw poo, I asked you a question. Let's hear a little bit. Where does Gawd's rabid and fanatical hatredanger criticism come from? Why is it you come here for no other reason than to talk about the things you dislike so intensely? And why do you despise those particular issues so much? Why not such anger towards corporate greed or climate change or China-Taiwan relations?
