Washington DC Earthquake

Post by MattShizzle » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:09 pm

Anyone else felt it? I did but didn't know what it was until I saw posts on facebook. Neither of my parents felt it - my mom was out in the car, my dad was at work (others he was with felt it.)

No damage. I've spilt some wine on the carpet though.

A bridge into the nearby city of Reading was closed due to cracks. It was cracked and in bad shape already but got worse.

Fucking piss-ant pussy of an earthquake. 5.8? Kiss my ass, Earth. When we needed a 10.0 in Washington all we can get is a fucking 5.8! Shit!

Goddamit, this would have been the very BEST thing to happen to Washington since the White House was burned and sacked in the Civil war.

The only way it could have been better is if Congress had been in session and the President had been speaking before a joint session when the entire dome of the Capitol collapsed on the whole sorry lot. Tom Clancy and his 747 be damned, a 10.0 would have fixed the problems in Washington for at least a decade or two.

Fuck, what a waste of geological energy!

The one in Haiti last January was also a 5.8. It was felt more than 500 miles away.

Civil War? The British did that. Churchill called it 'our finest hour'.

I thought the Canadians did it and called it "poutine."

Early reports of broken teacups and some chairs falling over. Heart goes out to all those affected.
