Woman charged in child abuse case

A woman arrested in connection with a child abuse inquiry centred on a nursery in Plymouth has appeared in court charged with sex offences.

Angela Allen, 39, was arrested in Nottingham as part of the investigation at Little Ted's nursery.

Ms Allen, of Bulwell, Nottingham faces a series of charges, including four counts of sexual assault.

She was remanded in custody after a five-minute hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

Ms Allen was ordered to reappear at the city's Crown Court on 6 July.

A 21-year-old man and a youth, 18, arrested at the same time have been released without charge.

Ms Allen also faces four counts of taking indecent photographs, possessing indecent photographs and distributing indecent photographs.

Vanessa George, 39, who worked at Little Ted's, appeared in court in Plymouth earlier this month, accused of sexual assault and making indecent images of children.

I saw that one. I thought someone had already posted about this case as well - obviously not - unless the title is really obscure, which I doubt. i must be thinking of something I have read on another site.

Anyway. This has to be so worrying for all the parents that sent their kids to this nursery. You just can't imagine their speculation as to what those children have suffered.

BOSTON -- Authorities arraigned a Centerville mother on child rape charges in Orleans District Court Monday, after Carolyn A. Pierce, 27, was accused of raping a 2-year-old girl she babysat earlier this month.

Prosecutors alleged that Pierce, herself the mother of a 2-year-old boy, raped the toddler using her finger on several occasions.

Pierce, who lives at home with her parents and grandparents, is a Cape Cod Tech graduate and also works a part-time job at the Cape Cod Times.

She was charged with seven counts of rape of a child by force and seven counts of indecent assault on a child under 14, Dennis police said.

Her attorney, Joseph McParland, told the court that there had "never been any evidence of any of this prior to this particular incident" and said Pierce had "no explanation for why or what happened."

Judge Don Carpenter ordered Pierce held on $25,000 cash bail and $50,000 surety until her next court appearance, which was scheduled for July 6.

It's a fair point, the details reported have been a little murky. I heard something about 'picture of children's torsos' but I'm not sure at all.
