There is nothing in the article to describe why the guy was getting so fat, other than eating 20,000 calories per day. There was no mention of a "glandular" issue or whatever. Clearly, when people are eating 20,000 calories a day, I think it's a safe bet that there is a psychological problem involved, but that is not made clear in the article either.
