I just see the source of the problem, while you are deeply into denial. That's the only way you could still be Republican.

If this were Context 101, you would get an F.

We need to look at WHY that happened. That's the point I was trying to make. Without Bush's profligate spending and destruction of the US economy there would be no need for firefighting.

You guys are saying that Bush's "profligate spending" (which the Democrats supported at the time) was bad, and the answer is even more profligate spending?

And, Zilla said "cooking the books?" No. The facts are the facts. Based on the Obama administration's books, he increased the national debt in 3.5 years more than Bush did in 8 years. That's true. It doesn't become "cooking the books" just because you guys think there is justification for it.

Much of the profligate spending, moreover, was stuff like the first bailout in 2008, TARP and the Afghan War, and the Prescription Drug benefit, which Democrats overwhelmingly supported.

Also, Obama indicated -- after he took office - that he would reduce the deficit 50% by the end of his first term. He hasn't. He hasn't even submitted a budget that would arguable do so. He hasn't even submitted a budget that would do so by even 10%. All his budgets that he has submitted have increased the deficit, and all of them have been voted down by his own party. Three years without a budget, folks.

So, tell me more about the context. At some point, don't you have to cut spending a bit?

Projections from 2009....

That reduction of the deficit "projected" by the CBO and the obama administration never happened. The reality of 2009, 10, 11, and 12 is that no reduction occurred. 2009 was 1.4 trillion. 2010 was almost 1.3 trillion. 2011 was almost 1.3 trillion and 2012 was 1.33 trillion.

Their projection. Their reality.

LOL -- spending money one doesn't have, and saddling children and grandchildren with debt. THAT is greedy.

Obama was right. A 10 trillion debt was immoral. It's 50% more immoral today.

Yup.... irresponsible. Unpatriotic.

Good words. He raised the debt more than occurred under Bush. And, that was irresponsible and unpatriotic. Yup. I agree.

Mr. Hoover, you fail to grasp the situation.

We cannot continue the path we are on. The economy will crack. Even under the CBO's and White House's own projections from 2009 -- see above - the debt was set to go up and up again after a brief few years of reduction. The only difference between reality and those projections so far is that there has been no reduction at all. There is no plan to reduce the deficit on the part of the Obama Administration. None. Regardless of what Bush did, that reality holds true. We cannot sustain these deficits indefinitely. They must be addressed. Obama has no plan and has advanced no budget that reduces the deficit. Period.

I'm glad you can see the future so clearly. But viewing the future from the inside of your wallet has to limit the scope of your vision.

I'm not talking about the future. I'm talking about the present. Presently, Obama has no plan to reduce the deficit.

In the past, in 2009, he said he would reduce the deficit by 50%in his first term. He has increased the deficit.

He has not submitted a single budget that even PRETENDED to reduce the deficit. All of those budgets were voted down, and spending increased.

He presently has no plan to reduce the deficit. He says it is immoral and unpatriotic to have such deficits, but he doesn't even have a plan to TRY to reduce the deficit.

As for the future -- my position relies on the Obama Administration's own estimates and the Congressional Budge office projections, which by their own estimations project increasing deficits -- even higher than we've had for the past 4 years.

If that's your solution, then you're part of the problem.
