Most authorities seem to be saying that omicron is likely to be less severe, but even with greatly reduced risk of hospitalisation, a big surge in case numbers can still produce enough severe cases to put serious strain on health systems.

You might have a cold, or Omicron:
....a group of 171 app users in the United Kingdom, most of whom are vaccinated, recently reported that their top symptoms for omicron were a runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing, and a sore throat. These were also the top symptoms for people infected with the delta variant.

Buy N95 masks before they sell out again:
"Cloth masks are little more than facial decorations. There's no place for them in light of Omicron," Wen told CNN on Monday. "Wear a high-quality mask, at least a three-ply surgical mask."

Those throw away masks are more than useless as I have said all along. Cloth masks are a fashion accessory.

Most of our states have 2-5% Omicron now, some 10% or more. I'll happy to see 90% Omicron. I might go to some longer indoor events by then.

I'm hoping to get my booster shot in a couple of weeks time. Till then, I'm avoiding public places as much as possible, and wearing my mask for the few shopping trips needed...

I haven't got mine either ...clinics need to be open and they are not on a holiday. Tomorrow likely if not pouring.

Almost all Covid cases in South Australia were confined to metropolitan Adelaide. There were five cases in my local government area since the start of the pandemic. The latest of them was identified in August last year. The LGA to the north of me registered two cases, both of them in July last year. This has changed. In the past few days about 260 cases have been identified in 35 rural LGAs, more than half of which never had one before. That new strain certainly spreads more aggressively than previous ones. Just as well its effects tend to be less severe.

I will be eligible for a booster shot four months after I received my second AstraSeneca injection on the 30th of August.

Think it's 3 months now. I had double Astra as well. Aug 27th for second. Maybe that's only QLD

Omicron estimated to be over 70% of new cases.

I have no real data on my county, but not 50% yet here.
