U.S.—Democratic leaders consoled themselves from their failure to stop Brett Kavanaugh from assuming a seat on the Supreme Court Monday by reminding the nation that although they lost the SCOTUS seat, they were able to keep their dignity.

As liberal protesters banged on the doors of the Supreme Court and attempted to claw them open, Senate Democrats calmed their constituents by pointing out that they were able to be the bigger person in all this.

"At very least, we didn't drag our political process to new depths and make ourselves look like petulant children," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. "It's important you don't lose the high ground in your quest for political clout. We could have tried to utterly destroy a man's life and turn to increasingly transparent obstruction tactics, but we didn't. We could have screamed and cried when it looked like things weren't going to go our way, but we didn't. We stayed out of all the muck and showed ourselves to be the mature ones."

None of it happened because there isn't a shred of evidence that any of it happened, and each of the story tellers tell internally inconsistent stories with multiple versions and stated inability to remember.

Look at Swetnick - her story turned out to be "I saw Kavanaugh at parties standing around, getting handsy with girls, and holding plastic cups near the a punch bowl." That's where it wound up in her TV interview, walked back from "I went to 10 parties in a row where I saw firsthand the felony distribution of controlled substances to unsuspecting teen girls for the purpose of gang rape (and I said nothing about it) and Kavanaugh was an active participant..."

The only reason any of that was offered was to derail a qualified Supreme Court candidate on partisan grounds.

That's not "false." Remember, it wasn't a criminal trial, so we can use whatever standard we want in determining if he committed the offense claimed....which necessarily means we can use whatever standard we want in determining if he didn't commit the offense claimed.

The Guardian's view - it would be fine to determine that he did it, because it's just a job interview. But, it would not be fine (it would be a lie) to determine that he did not do it, in that same job interview. Left logic.

While it seems there is now no reasonable grounds or legitimately basis on which to object to or oppose a Supreme Court nominee (how very dare they!), none of that really touches on the point that Mr Kavanaugh was/is partisan and clearly aligned with the GOP - well, other than to justify it of course.
