I can't see the trade war ending soon. Trump enjoys the period as "owning the EU." But the EU is not going to go well. It may drag out. Trump does not care.

What Trump wants more than anything is a win over China. Nobody knows what that is. In Trump's confused brain his methods will get a balance of trade of zero.

well, frump is wealthy enough, that he can not care about the hardship he's imposing on the common man and the businesses that don't have lots of money to spare or that need to export to make money.

Whose betting on black? They'll call him a genius if this all works out. Chances of that though?

No more slaves, no more black people. At the Smithsonian. What are they? Lifetime contractors?
"The Smithsonian, the vast complex of museums that millions of Americans visit every year to see Lincoln’s top hat, the Spirit of St. Louis, Harriet Tubman’s shawl, a moon rock, and Dorothy’s ruby slippers, is at the center of the executive order’s indignation. The order takes particular issue with a sculpture exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum called “The Shape of Power,” saying that it pushes “the view that race is not a biological reality but a social construct.”

"The National Museum of African American History and Culture—which, until recently, was run by The New Yorker’s poetry editor, Kevin Young—comes in for particularly splenetic denunciation. Trump, in his first term, expressed a modicum of admiration while visiting what is affectionately called the Black Smithsonian. It is a spectacular museum, one that richly represents the story of African American struggle, suffering, and achievement. Daily, adults and schoolkids take in exhibits about chattel slavery and Jim Crow, Reconstruction and the civil-rights movement, and leave with a deeper understanding of American history in all its darkness and its promise. But in a culture war that demands that political opponents be branded, en masse, as “woke revolutionaries,” there can be no complexity. And it will be the job, according to the executive order, of Vice-President J. D. Vance, who sits on the Smithsonian’s board, to make matters simple. Vance is charged with leading the effort to remove from the museum what is called, in exquisite Orwellese, “improper ideology.”
David Remnick for the "New Yorker," the headline reads "At the Smithsonian, Donald Trump Takes Aim at History."

Trump PS

Leavitt: "I do just want to point out one thing. Everybody in Washington, whether they want to admit it or not, knows that this president is right when it comes to tariffs and when it comes to trade."

Comment: Note to Trump administration, if you have to preface your statements with “everyone knows” , it’s most likely a lie.

Trump's muscling into the military wih Hegseth is a build up to one thing. If Trump somehow does survive to year 3, they will invade Canada and Greenland.

$60 000 humanities grant threatens the government
“The termination of your grant represents an urgent priority for the administration,” acting NEH head Michael McDonald, who stepped into leadership when President Trump pushed the former director to resign, explained in this letter addressed only to “NEH Grantee.” The agency is “repurposing its funding allocations in a new direction in furtherance of the President’s agenda,” and my “grant’s immediate termination is necessary to safeguard the interests of the federal government.”
While I am unsure if this termination is enforceable—the executive orders listed as rationale are not laws, after all—as a historian who spends a lot of time analyzing primary sources and government documents, I can tell you that this communication is remarkable. No proper professional courtesies, no effort to avoid the appearance of partisanship, no respect for process, no reference to the specific project at hand, not even a .gov email address.

Trump’s education policy, the effective shuttering of the National Endowment for the Humanities being only one example, will do little to help women, Jews, or sincere advocates of “viewpoint diversity,” all categories to which I belong. A closer look at the executive orders enumerated as the rationale for this defunding decision makes clear that Trump is escalating long-standing conservative rhetoric about “taking back” universities to a more destructive project better understood as disfiguring academia beyond recognition. Using blanket language about ending diversity, equity, and inclusion, “restoring biological truth,” and “ending radical indoctrination,” these directives are openly ideological and so broad as to encompass any individual or initiative that offends whoever in the Trump administration is calling the shots that day.

Trump enjoys holding court where a steady stream of world leaders will come to visit and pay homage by cutting him a good deal. :{D
China will prove difficult, perhaps a tariff on Chinese students studying in the US will fix that problem when tuition suddenly doubles.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
