The dishonesty in that post is pathetically transparent. As usual.Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 3:37 pmFunny how, after smashing Hillary, he gained millions of votes over the next four years.
Still lost to Biden and his charming 'diversity hire' program, but he DID gain a lot of votes while presidenting.
Best to ignore the fact that much of the country agreed with him though. Much more sensible to ban him from all social media, and pretend everyone always hated him.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
In 2016 the Electoral College system smashed Clinton. In terms of the popular vote Clinton smashed Trump by 2,868,686 votes. In 2020 21,714,127 more voters went to the polls than in 2016. Biden's increase was 15,415,410. Trump's increase was 4,184,084 less than that. This is how Trump lost by the disappointingly small number of 7,052,770 votes. The small parties were just about totally wiped out. In 2016 they attracted 7,830,934 votes. In 2020 2,898,325, which is way less than half the previous election's number.
Yes indeed. If I were a US citizen I'd do my level best to hide the fact that 46.86% of my compatriots preferred the megalomaniacal, narcissistic psychopath to the stuttering, neoliberal gerontocrat.

In fact you will find that people on this forum are very aware that a substantial number of Americans voted for him (although, just in case you forgot, less than Biden...). The political and social reasons behind those substantial number of votes are interesting, and illuminate important aspects of the current US zeitgeist...Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 3:37 pmFunny how, after smashing Hillary, he gained millions of votes over the next four years.

Good ole Babylon Bee.

I wonder how many people see this at Gab, or wherever, and take it for real.

Yeah, history will certainly remember the Trump phenomenon, but the fact that the top two vote getters in the entire history of the US are Barack Obama and Joe Biden might end up seen as the fall of the Clinton/New Democrat coalition and a move toward a more New Deal style arrangement. Maybe not, but one thing's for sure.JimC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 9:20 pmIn fact you will find that people on this forum are very aware that a substantial number of Americans voted for him (although, just in case you forgot, less than Biden...). Of all the pols you'd expect to come out on top, Joe Biden's got to be the most unlikely guy to end up number one.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
Yeah, Trump did gain a little on his 2016 popular vote count in 2020, but he was still less popular than Hilary when elected, and the Democrats made major gains with Biden in 2020, who was the first candidate to get more than 50% of the popular vote since Bush in 2004. In fact, with the exception of Bush in 2004 Democratic Party candidates have had a larger share of the popular vote than Republican candidates for the last 30 years. So your point is... basically... some people voted for Trump in 2020 I guess?Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 3:37 pmFunny how, after smashing Hillary, he gained millions of votes over the next four years.

Good thing the 'popular vote' doesn't matter except among corporate media, and countries that aren't the US.

Yeah, the popular vote in the US doesn't decide an election on it's own - and nobody claimed otherwise - but it's hardly irrelevant. It's a basic and reliable poll of public support for the candidates/parties at election time. Weren't you the one saying that much of the country agreed with Trump? I just pointed out that at the last two elections more people didn't.

Right, but by the numbers, one hillbilly opinion is worth about 5.8 New York City opinions.

As I've said in another thread, that is indicative of a deep flaw in a so-called democracy.
