The Coronavirus Thread
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I saw an AP article about it in my Sunday paper's news section. Bottom line, the emails show no evidence of wrongdoing, and the GOP is trying to make it an issue to distract from their lack of a legislative vision. The Editorial section dutifully had op-eds from the usual suspects promoting the "controversy."

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I'll keep that in mind, while Fauci backpedals and the 'evidence of zoonotic origins' comes out.
Unless of course that was marketing wankery...

I've never heard of Melissa Chen. Is she 'far right'?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
The fact that there is still a rational debate in the media and between a variety of scientists about the origins of covid-19 proves the point that there is no conspiracy theory about the origins, and that knowledgeable people are working in good faith to try to assemble the data that will throw light on the issue.

I'd have no problem if Richard Dawkins does the fact-checking on claims regarding evolution for Facebook
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
The reporting here is pretty much the same way, but the opinion writers are a hot mess. A lot of them conflate Trump's bioweapon hypothesis with the lab leak hypothesis, with results that would be comical except that so many Americans don't differentiate between the news section and the editorial section.JimC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:23 pmThe fact that there is still a rational debate in the media and between a variety of scientists about the origins of covid-19 proves the point that there is no conspiracy theory about the origins, and that knowledgeable people are working in good faith to try to assemble the data that will throw light on the issue.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Yeah I'm done with the conspiracies.
Except to point out the bioweapon business:
1 you don't make one if you don't have a vaccine for your own people
2 it's quite difficult to test one
If it's lethal to lab mice, it's lethal to you.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
And wouldn't there be signs if the covid virus had been genetically modified? Nobody's found those that I've heard of.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
There were vigorous claims that evidence pointed to a zoonotic origin and NOT a lab leak.
Riddle me this, science folk - how could a zoonotic-origin virus ALSO be a lab leak?
I haven't seen the evidence that caused people to favour the zoonotic origin, but there was some back-and-forth Fauci decided was too long to read...so he might not have seen it too.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Did you have anything to say about genetic modification? Or are you just trolling again?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I don't. Were you expecting me to have evidence from me about this mystery?
Some folks were tricked into overconfidence in the zoonotic origin fantasy. How did that happen?

Yep, you're trolling. Peddle that imbecilic gibberish elsewhere.
