I heard people panicking because they looked like police, but don't have badges, names, ranks etc. displayed.

I mean, panic away - that sounds reasonable enough. Except in the US.

Except that regular citizens, who don't have to identify themselves to you, can arm up and walk around all they want...so the only problem seems to be treating them as 'police', when really they are just regular guys out for a stroll...
Barr recruited just súch people in DC. In DC he got away with these irregular troops, in states he would not. The authority of MPs or police or any force, narcotics or even the FDA comes from the badge. Unless the people confronting you identify themselves as some authority, you are free to shoot them. If you get injured, you have to be able to sue someone.

I keep forgetting that DC isn't in a state. Weird jurisdiction.

I read in a Dutch article that Trump would leave the White House if he was defeated at the next election? WTF

Saying that doesn't achieve anything on its own Scot - what's needed is viable opposition which can offer a meaningful alternative, and frankly the Dems don't seem up to that job in the slightest.

Jesse Ventura could not finish his Minnesota governor term. I think he gave it to his vice...whatever the post is...so she could be the first woman governor.

Ever read Bug Jack Barron? That's what American needs now: a better fictional hero than the ones they've had so far.

Donald Trump Jr spent US$76,000 of American taxpayers' money so he could travel to Mongolia and kill a sheep, it has emerged.

Trump Jr, the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, is a big fan of trophy hunting. He travelled to the central Asian nation in August 2019 to hunt a rare Argali mountain sheep, USA Today reports. Argali are listed as 'near-threatened' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

A rep for Trump Jr told US media he paid for the trip himself, but documents released this week show it actually cost US$$76,859.36 (NZ$117,000) on top of that, paid for by taxpayers, as he took a Secret Service protection squad with him.

He could simply come over to Oz for a working vacation in an abattoir. He could kill a fuck load of sheep there...
