So you don't care that an elder suffering dementia is the candidate, but the people who will actually be in charge (as yet to be annointed) will surely be better than what is there now...?

What could go wrong? Another pandemic? It's only 4 years. Trump was 4 years bit those were Trump years. The wheels were starting to come off as soon ad he was sworn in and we had that largely empty mall to cheer him on.
