Is America under a coup?

The US is in the middle of a coup and hasn't realised, according to Michael Moore.

The filmmaker and journalist, who was one of the few famous people to publicly predict that Donald Trump would become President, has warned that the US state is being overthrown by Mr Trump and the people he has appointed to govern alongside him.

Linking to a New York Times piece about the role of senior advisor Steve Bannon, he posted on Twitter: "If you're still trying to convince yourself that a 21st century coup is not underway, please, please snap out of it".

Senators from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Wyoming yesterday introduced the “War on Wolves Act,” a companion bill to legislation introduced last week in the House that would strip federal protections from wolves and allow trophy hunting and trapping of the species in four states.

If the legislation passes both chambers and gets signed by the president, it would hand the fate of wolves in Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Wyoming over to states whose management wolf plans two federal courts ruled inadequate to securing the species at legally required population levels in absence of Endangered Species Act protections.

In Wyoming, this would allow the state to resume a hostile management program that allowed for unlimited shoot-on-sight killing of wolves across 85 percent of the state. The legislation would further strip citizens of the right to challenge these lethal programs in court. The appeals process of two federal court decisions that restored federal protections to wolves in those four states are still underway. Decisions on those cases are expected any day.

If there was a court order compelling them to act or restraining them from acting, and they ignored it, then the next step is for the party who got the court to enter the order in the first place to file a motion for contempt of court. If they ignored the order, the judge can enter sanctions against the officials, including monetary fines, payment of costs and attorney fees, and even, in extreme circumstances, jail the offending persons.

It's to stop incoming persons until a new review/vetting system is put in place.

Unless you're a child refugee from Syria, in which all vetting is suspended, indefinitely, and you're just banned.

US citizens also commit crimes, and sometimes even acts of terror. Surely these people should be banned from the US too?

The way he sees it, Trump has used San Bernardino as fodder for a policy rooted in religious discrimination.

“I don’t think he cares about any terror victims. There’s so much confusion I don’t think they know what they’re doing,” he said.

“Basically, this is a religious test,” Ramos said. “And it’s wrong.”

Milka Amanios, the 20-year-old daughter of the late Isaac Amanios, has been following the news closely since the executive order was announced and has been angered by each mention of the attack that killed her father.

“It’s been egregious; it’s been ridiculous,” she said. “I don’t think people realize my family are refugees to begin with, so it’s disheartening to see the rhetoric that’s used. They love to use the San Bernardino attack as an example, but it was done by a U.S. citizen who killed a refugee.”
